Well first off i want to clarify i searched garrett t-67 and no results came up probably cause default search voids things like "t-67". Idon't know much about turbos just have a rough idea about how they work and such and the popular choices. No details really yet.

But First i wanted to know if a T67 with .70 turbine A/R would be a good turbo for our cars and approx spool time (ie, what rpm??)

Next, my mods will obviously support this turbo but i don't want to exceed 500RWHP at all since i technically have oversized OEM pistons and original rods (don't worry they were magnafluxed and such....LOOK AT THE SIG for basis of mods).

The guy offering says its used 10K and he is a friend of mine so i don't doubt it, however it was rebuilt and never used yet. Apparently its from an "upgraded" STS turbo kit which the upgrad on the turbo cost $400 alone (supposedly). He want's $550 for it.

My other option is an upgraded CT to 57GT......which would be a better choice since prices are approx same? (YES, i would have to get new mani, WG, and intake setup but that's not all the much in the scheme of things). Also, i want reliability in my turbo.

Edit:

I like the power on demand form the ct-26. I can spool at least 10PSI by 2500RPM, and i can be neck and neck with a mod'd C5 corvette but again, i want reliability. I don't want to have to max out the ct57GT at 20+PSI and attain 450HP when i could do it on X (x<20PSI) amount on T-67.

I asked who rebuilt it (professional or not), the guy said "his friend did but he's been dealing with turbos all the time since '84" somethign along those lines. My first question was "did he get it professionally balance????" (so don't worry MDC and associates, i know you stress this point a lot, and b/c of that you imprinted it to my head lol). I don't have a response to that yet FYI

Cliff notes:

buy a ct2657GT or T67?
spool time?
don't want more than 500RWHP.
more reliable?
Cost is $550 10k miles, but rebuilt
wasn't built "professionally" but was it balanced correctly? no answer yet

ive sold a ton of these, $550 is a good price if it is what he says it is.

expect full boost around 4600 rpm, and 500rw on ~17-18psi. mid 600rw is possible in the upper 20's range.

there is no way you can compare the ct upgrade to this turbo. a completely different league.

i know that, but for my goals i was wondering what the better choice would be as id also have to get new manifold, DP, intake, and WG

T4 housing can be drilled out to fit stock manifold. Though then the stock manifold would be quite the restriction at 450-500 horsepower.

I personally wouldn't go with a upgraded ct26 unless you were keeping the boost at like 10-12psi or lower, they have too iffy of a track record to be pushed with large compressor wheels.

Also verify what the turbo is by measuring the compressor wheel, and i would highly recommend sending it to MDC or the like to have it balanced and checked out. cheap insurance compared to a compressor blade breaking off and going threw the engine. Maybe even find out why it was rebuilt in the first place.

Good points made, i will ask its history. However, if you drilled the stock mani, how would you integrate a WG?

guy just got back to me with this:

How's it goin? I don't have any pics of that turbo, because right now, it isn't even in my hands, the guy that rebuilt it still has it, and is out of town until next week. I talked to him, and he said that only the bearings were replaced, the Wheels were in pristine condition and didn't need replaced so a re-balancing wasn't necessary. He's a trust worthy guy, and the turbo is great. 10K Miles on a turbo Silverado that just decided they didn't want to run the kit anymore. I called and got a price check for you, just to make sure my price wasnt out of line, and this turbo is $1300 new from STS.

so it wasn't really rebuilt but rather tuned up?
