I know, I hate the "is this a good deal" threads too, but I'm really torn.

I've had two supras now - both 88's, one was always shitty exterior wise and at first engine wise until I rebuilt it. It has a perfect blue interior, but horrible horrible paint and body damage from the theft.

My other one is my 1JZ, with a perfect maroon interior but the exterior doesn't match the door jambs, and the paint is also really poor with chips and peels back to the original color. In addition I found out last week that it's got a frame problem and can't be aligned into spec.

Last week my 7M took a shit while someone else was driving. I've decided I'd like to look for a shell to swap my 1JZ into and part out everything else.

I found a partout on craigslist and it's about a 5 hour drive, but it's /exactly/ what I want.

He wants $1000 for the whole car minus engine. (Knock Knock... Who's There? 7M!)

Can I stress that I wanted a white 89+ hardtop non turbo? The only thing that's not exactly what I wanted is that it's an auto. Buuut then again I have two 5 speed cars to do the swap from so thats a minor point.

Some emails from him:
I dont have any pics. If you are looking for a straight body, clean
interior, then this is the car for you. I bought this car from a woman
friend at work. She has had this car since new. I think, for what you
need this car will wok. I want to keep this car and fix for my daughter
who will be driving in 2 years. I have too many cars now and dont have
time for another project.

Exterior is white
interior is dark blue with leather
It has a hard top
Non turbo with 139K. This car is stock. I am the second owner.

Input?

yeah, just tell him that you're interested, but 10hrs in a car on a random person's word is just a bit too much...

I just went to look at a civic with my friend for his girlfriend about two weeks ago... the guy said it was a very clean car, very nice.. blah blah blah.. no problems whatsoever...

it had a spraypainted "drift" style bumper on it... smoothed over rust, otherwise clean, but it just goes to prove that you never know without pictures.... the guy was extremely helpful on the phone, and appeared to have told us everything about it...

pictures are necessary.

Hey, I got your PM and I'll go take a look for you. I'm in kirkland and I've got a great digital camera to send you some high res pictures with. I'll even check all the comon rust spots like the hatch, gas door, fenders quarter panels, rocker panels etc. Shouldn't take me more than half an hour or so with the car.

Hey, if your looking for a shell only, I might have one. Its a pearl white 88 hardtop 5spd. It would take a bit more work than the one your looking at, but the body is super straight, and its a rust free car. Also the Price is right. I'll take $100 bucks for it. The only reason I would take any money for it is because I kinda wanted the seats in it.

It would take ALOT of swapping parts, there is no engine/trans/rearend. Its missing brake parts, and the rear half of the burgundy interior is gone. But Im only in Corvallis and you could get it home alot easier.

Wow that's super tempting.... I was really hoping for an 89+ but for $900 I could get a lot of conversion pieces.

Have any pics?

My main goal is to get a car that has good-great paint and body. I have a spotless burgundy interior and two 88's as donor cars for misc items.

I might be interested in it if the body and paint are super great.

Thanks for the heads up.

oh, how many miles, N/A or Turbo, yadda yadda

I could take some pics. Here is the deal though, I took off the DS fender (was gonna swap it onto my 89) and the hood and upper nose are on my 86.5. I was hoping to take the windshield and the PS door, but I can leave those alone I guess.

If you have a straight fender, hood, and nose (any color, cause I would be painting them anyways) I would trade ya then I can put the original pieces back on the 88. Its perfect straight....I mean razor blade straight, and the paint shines up real nice. I will take a pic of the hood, which I already shined up when it went on my 86.5.

Your gonna need to give me a day or two to get decent pics for ya. Im elbows deep in a clutch replacement on my 89 right now.

I happen to have two donor cars. One with silver paint and one with blue. the hood is great with the exception of paint on both cars and the DS fender on the silver car is pretty good also with the exception of paint. It has some little ripples along the top where people were leaning on it before I got the car.

If it's easier for you I could just drive up there to check it out. Any night this week.
