i have a red 89 NA supra i want to turbo. i May be able to buy everything needed to turbo my car from parts of a 7M-gte motor. i was wondering if this is the best preformance AND price conservitive way. Also. has anyone done this conversion who could give an opionion and anyone with an estimate on how much hP and torque increase? around 7-10 psi until i build my motor up to handle power.

Cool to see another Supra guy from around my area! Depending on what your setup would be would determine your resulting power numbers. Are you just wanting to basically take stuff off a turbo 7M and put it on yours?

Hey, Haven't seen u around Asheville. Are u new to Supra's? I could probably help u if u need it. I got some turbo stuff I could sell u. U should get about 40 more hp with a good setup. I would just get a JDM 7M-GTE motor set though.

Ive checked the serch and looked at dyno's with mods. prob is everyone has too many mods so idk what just a basic turbo upgrade would do...

And yea pretty much and once i get everything working nicely with my turbo system i plan on geting a bigger intercooler and bigger turbo. But i plan on starting my Na-T conversion maybe in 6 or less weeks. And its rare to find another supra lover around here! everytime i see one i find out who owns it haha so far i know about 4:)

Im always crusin asheville:) not really NEW to supras. ive had mine for 6 months maybe and ready for a turbo :). problem with a whole new 7mgte is the installation and pulling of the motors. and as far as engines go... im not exactly good and stuf like that haha. i know a lil though. but that is a good option if i could find a decent priced one.

How hard was the swap?
sorry, mine was turbo originally . i was just letting you know about the cost of a jdm engine. i did run into some trouble with the throttle linkage. i forgot the details, but i think the usdm came with a throttle rotor(?) and the jdm came with a linkage(?) or something. i can't remember, but i know i had to use the tb from the usdm.

so far for engine work well i bought the car with 28k miles, car had 51k at the time i did the conversion. I replaced the HG with a new oem one torqued down to 85 on arp studs. (the old headgasket was perfect still, but i wanted to make sure, so i just replaced it anyway) I am running on 7mgte electronics and running at about 8.5psi. I have a homemade 3in exhuast straight back including DP, i have the 3" elbow which i still need to install. I'm running a ssqv along side the stock bypassvalve so that the car won't stall. Plugs are autolites gapped to 32. Ummm what else... oh yea as for oil i have the rabid chimp oil line kit which included a T fitting to allow for oil feed and then a bung i welded into the oilpan. Turbo is not water cooled. As for cooling i have a relocation kit as well as a b&m oil cooler. Hope this answers your questions.

I come from a land down under
Viper: Dunno just seemed an odd place to put em ;)
(It can't help but I'm not sure how much it will affect the stock coils as they're designed to sit up there anyway, Iv'e seen a few guys run em up on the firewall above the cam covers)
