Unfortunately, yup.

Peel police are close to the worst as far as handing out tickets for vehicle modifications...Air filter without an air box (typical k&n cone filter), vented BOV (emissions violation, $300), any sort of emissions tampering for that matter (egr, cats, ect. $300ea), tints, lowering springs, ect. ect. Pretty much anything the officer does not like, its up to his discretion to hand out a ticket. A lot of them are bullshit and would get thrown out in court, but a lot of people don't know this and don't fight the tickets...Aside from the fact our courts are so backed up it takes close to a year for your date to come up...

:wtf:
Where do you live?? Thats insane, cops pull you over and ask to check under your hood?????

I've had three supras in four diff. texas cities (San Antonio, Austin, College Station, Houston), and *knock on wood* never been cited for not having a front plate, even when being pulled over for speeding.... ymmv though of course

I was thinking of bending the front plate to not restrict any flow thru grille, but thought that would look terrible so I just chance it
Same here dude. *knock on wood*

I've got about 3 different address's i use to help get out of anything i can when it comes to emissions and liscence plates. I am from Idaho where you have to have a front lisence plate. I go to school in Atlanta where you don't need a liscence plate but have to pass emissions. But when I am co-op'ing i live in Valdosta, GA which has no front liscence plate and no emissions, so i use that address and get the best of both:) I've never had any problems in Atlanta with my BOV or no cats, but from what i've heard Atlanta is pretty lax on stuff like car mods.

Ontario, canada.

Its not as bad out of of the main cities but in the greater toronto area, especially peel, cops are HORRIBLE. They have a lot of problems with street racing around here so yes a cop will pull you over for know reason what-so-ever and harrass/ticket you, even if you are driving the speed limit.

If he/she sees/hears any sort of modification (even an aftermarket muffler) that pretty much doubles your chance of getting pulled over. It used to basically be a weekly occourance in the summer with my car. Bad, bad, bad. Luckily I know most of the laws and don't let them do anything out of line...locking hood pins works as well usually, "sorry officer, I must have forgot the keys at home so I can't open the hood." Although, if he really wants to he can have the car towed to their impound and then be examined...And this is with you doing no prior offense to warrant the "search". It is really bad.

Don't even get me started on our Insurance rates and gas prices...Ontario is a bad place to live right now.

They are supposed to have "just cause" or whatever it is called (if they can see a nitrous bottle or something else illegal related to the engine) ...If a regular officer asks, you are legally allowed to refuse, But if he calls a Ministry of transportation officer you have to sit there and wait for them to arrive, and then they are allowed to rape you without any KY. They are all "licensed" mechanics/technicians and can lay any charge they want on you. Although half of them can't tell the difference between your air intake and your breathers on your valve covers. We have nazis' for police. There is a reason my car is 100% bone stock from the outside with no flashy gagues visible from outside...
