getting new tires for sawblades.. suggestions?

I have goodyear F1's 245 50 16's on my blades. I couldnt imagine going wider.

I have a picture of a MKIII on my cell phone with 255s on MKIII 5 spokes. it's such a massively bulged tire, you're not getting any more rubber on the road than a 245, maybe even a 235.casing;949703 said:

255's on the 16" mkiv wheels would be perfect, I have 245's on the rear of my mkiv wheels and it looks like a drifto special(the tire is angled out hard, the wheel is too wide for the tire). 255's on the mkiv 16's would be perfect.

kumho ecsta spt's for summer driving (although they've worked year round for me)
kumho ecsta asx's for all season driving.
both are a great performing tire thats relatively cheap. only problem ive had with the spt is that it'll get a tiny flat spot sitting for a week that works itself out after two-three minutes of driving.

Stock at 225/50. Dunlop has recommended wheel widths for all their tires. I doubt they'd suggest 255 on an 7" rim, but take a look.

The OP has Sawblades aren't the MK4 wheels and the aftermarkets wheels folks are talking about wider?
255 will fit just fine on the wheels BUT i would sugest only doing it on the rear tires because 255 on the front bluges out way to much. I wish i had taken a pic of the mustang wheels(same exact size as sawblades) i have when i first bought them they had 255 on them because the back looked damn sexy lol

I have Yokohama AVS ES100's on my stock 5 spokes, 245/45/16. I've had them on for about 5 months and haven't had any problems with them dry or in rain. Nice tire and pretty good price too.

Prior to that, I had the same size in Kumho Ecsta Supras and they were pretty good, except I had to dump them before I should have when I saw they had been dry-rotting when they were about to be put on another set of wheels.

255 on a sawblade? Yeah, it might hook nice, but from what I've come to know, the handling will suck because of the ton of excess sidewall that will roll over in the corners... not just in the front, the rear as well. They both have to turn...
If all you do is straight line stuff, by all means. If you want it to take some corners nice, get tires that fit the rim.

i have been running BF goodrich g force sport since the summer of 2006 and i love them. i'm looking at getting another set within the next few months. was even thinking about getting a set for my other project car as well.

You are absolutely right I was thinking the five spoke rims that came later than my 89 were also wider, the jist of what I was trying to say is a 245 on a 7 inch wide rim (sawblade), is pretty much the max recommended width at any of the tire manufacturers sites.
