I have everything lined up from the cams on thier knotches and the crank at 0.the distributor at #1.she started rite up,but was hesitating.I think my best bet is to try the timing light DAAAAAAAAAAA::dunce::.I would think she would'nt have any problems since things were all lined up.everything else is fine.it did give me a 51 code thoe.people please tell me if i forgot anything else since this is only my 2nd and hopefully my last head job.

i bet its your timing. After doing my head i found no marks to line up on the distributor like the manual said, so i had to trial and error. Easiest thing to do is leave the dist bolt loose and while its running move it to either side and see if it gets better. If it gets better in one direction, just pull the dist out and move the gear one tooth over the way that helped and try again. But yes you will need to permanently set up the timing once you have the right tooth in there

Yes you need to put a timing light on it. Was #1 piston on TDC, when you lined everything up? If not you could be off a little. Also have you adjusted the TPS?

The Back 9.
If you throttle up while pulling codes you will autothrow a 51.
Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and pull codes again.
Don't hit the throttle till you remove the jumper wire and see if you still have the 51.

If you do you may have a tps issue.

If you don't think you're internals are on the right stroke spin the crank 1 revolution re-allighn and check the timing.

IF I'm wrong someone can correct me. Since I have yet to resolve this on my whip for other ongoing issues.

Well yes you are right castrol, when installing the timing belt you have to spin the motor a couple of revelotions and check to see if your cam gears line up still. This is another thing that is over looked a lot when the timing belt is taken off for any reason. Could very well be his problem if it wasn't done.
