I'm thinking very seriously of buying this car to either fix or use for some parts. I have a question regarding the body trim. ON the passenger door the trim is starting to come off because the clips are rusted. Easy fix or what? Anyway tell me what yall think of this. The body is straight, it needs a front bumper, the interior is decent, but not as nice as mine. Sorry they are phone pics, I forgot to take the good digital camera with me. Also, the car has been sitting for about 3 years.

Just in my opinion, its a Pre-89 (which i love, but most dont), gay blue, blue interior, with auto trans, and the engines not even close to being together.

Just simply look at those piston walls.

Hell, if your happy with it, all the power to you!

What are your plans with the car?

The body's nice, except for the rear glass

The interior looks pretty good, providing you clean it

The Tranny is Auto.......BUT......That's what you like anyway

I'm no motor expert, but maybe that block can be of use for your other car.

I'm betting you could double your money in parts pretty easy, if you didn't give way more than the $200 mark. This could be a pretty nice car for not too much money.

Plans are to either fix it or part it and use what I can for my ge-gte swap. Whatever it's missing under the hood, I have laying in my garage. Plus there is ton of shit in the hatch. Wheels are turning in my brain. If I decide to keep and fix, then the gray 89 goes bye-bye.

I didn't notice the sawblades being backwards. That might just be the deal breaker.
The window just got shattered within the last couple of weeks. They stuffed too much shit in the hatch and then shut it, you can see what happened next.

I had this same thought.

That car does NOT have the potential of your grey car!

Grey car is already in much better shape, and is 89+ style. Both cars need a motor. I'd put the money into the grey car, rather than trying to buy and rebuild a pre 89 to take it's place. It will cost way more to have what you want that way.

If you plan on rebuilding it, you would have a hell of alot of work.

The trim is an easy fix...just pull it off and get a new set.
89+ used the plastic clips and wont rust...

The motor though looks like its about gone...I don't know if you could ressurect that!

Id get it and swap into the gray one as it looks a lot better. Your gray car is just... really nice, not worth getting rid of for this blue one. Put parts together and make the gray car perfect! :D

I'm hearing ya but something I've always had a weakness for is taking some P.O.S. out of a field or backyard and making it something great again. I did that with my 85 Celica GT-S. Found it sitting in a yard down the road from my house with a blown motor, severely trashed interior and numerous other problems. I got it home and started polishing that turd and after all said and done it turned out very nice, just not enough power. I got the gray already spiffy and just did some tweaking here and there, and a couple of f-ing GE engines. I guess I'm seeing this as a challenge. To take this p.o.s. and turn it into a car that will make people stop and take notice. I got so many positive comments on my celica while sitting at traffic lights, or driving down the road people would point and give a thumbs up. It felt good getting that after knowing what the car used to be.
Ok, everybody should be hearing inspirational music in their heads now. We'll see what happens. The gray will most likely win out.

No targa:(
I called the guy back today and told him I will buy it on Friday. Once I get it home I'll "assess" its situation. I haven't told the wife about it yet either. I may just surprise her with it and she will be surprised.

Da89Soup, she refers to my supra as stupid ass car also. After 15 years of marriage (April 16) she has finally succumbed to my car needs though. It's not as bad as it used to be. She kinda digs the Supra.

Maybe she will become more like my wife..............THOSE stupid ass cars.

Oh..And CCS kinda overshot the value of a set of sawblades too, by about $50. I tried to give a guy a set recently, for nothing but the cost of shipping, and he turned me down. That was after he posted a thread looking for a set! True story!
