*note these pics were before the lowering*

I've done so much to this car, it's pretty much my love child, lol. I bought the car with 252k miles on it, bad paint, crappy interior, paint player that was hanging out. The old motor developed rod knock at around 253-254k miles. My dad and I put in a JDM motor with about 45k miles on it, also put a new clutch in as well. The car got a new paint job shortly after the TX 2k6 nationals. The car also got new brake pads all around and new front rotors. The car has also had the brake booster replaced, as well as the steering rack. Here is the maintenance/mod list:

- JDM 7M-GE, now with 53-54k miles
- New paint job, Toyota color code #176
- Black sawblades
- 20% tint
- Eibach lowering springs
- KYB shocks
- Copper 245/50R 16 tires, almost 80% tread left on ALL tires, one is a Yokohama
- New OEM clutch
- New front OEM brake rotors
- New brake pads
- New shift knob
- New shift boot
- New emergency brake boot
- New steering rack
- New brake booster
- New exhaust piping
- New cat
- New TPS
- New radiator cap
- NGK spark plug wires
- NGK copper spark plugs
- SOGI shift mod
- Green truck bushing
- Flo-pro muffler
- Kenwood KDC-MP228 headunit
- Infinity 4" Reference speakers (2) in the front
- Polk DX4 Coaxial 4" speakers (2) in the rear

The only issues that the car has is the famous "carrier-bearing issue", and it also needs new front lower ball joints. The car just recently had an oil change with 10W-30 synthetic motor oil. The transmission and differential fluid was recently changed as well. I'm probably forgetting some stuff on the list, but that's all I can think of at the moment. The car runs great, the motor runs strong, just needs those issues above fixed to be an awesome, solid car. I don't know if I can post a price, but I'd like a ballpark of the $3k range (you guys on the forums know it's worth that from all the work that's been put into this car). I'm located in the DFW area of Texas.

or just swap a GTE after you build it a lil of course. your car is such a clean shell to work with in the first place from what i have seen. If you do decide to sell make sure she goes to a good home :(

The carrier bearing is the point between the two pieces of the driveshaft. Overtime, that lock or I guess you could say bolt spot, becomes loose, causing the driveshaft to wobble, which in turn causes vibration in the rear. This can simply be fixed with a 1 piece driveshaft, or a new carrier bearing itself.

is it an expensive fix? oh, does the car leak any fluids? needs fluid filled every week? good for a DD?
Not a very expensive fix at all. I believe new carrier bearings range in the $100-$200 range. And NO, the car doesn't leak ANY FLUIDS. It is a good daily driver, just needs the bearing issue fixed.

how about the lower ball joints? ive fixed those on a jeep before, but it only cost me $60. What do they cost for a supra? and how much time u think it'd take to fix carrier bearings and ball joints?

Stick with what you got. Pay your bills, save your money, buy some parts on the side, and in a year or two go turbo. Your paint job seems to be good, the car looks good. Are there any electrical issues? Most used supras I've seen have rust or body issues or have electrical issues, your's doesn't seem to have either. So I'd stick with it.

Also I think it's pretty impractical trying to buy a good supra and trying to time it so that you sell yours at the same time. I'd buy the supra and sell your when you can. If you can't afford to do that, re-read this post from the top ;)

Well the ball joints should cost around $80, I found a place on Ebay that has them, link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-Lo...ryZ33580QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The ball joints usually take an hour or two to replace, and I don't know about the carrier bearing, as I've never fixed one before.

Also, there is a minor issue where the ISC will act up, which happens probably once-twice a week. What will happen is when the car starts up cold, the RPM will drop then go back up to normal, does this a few times. Usually I turn off the car for a few seconds, start it up again, and it's good to go, I never could figure out what the problem was. Also, the AC works fine and is ice cold if you wanted to know.

I love the car, believe me, but I'd like to start with another Supra. I don't know what it is, but I like the fact that I can start on a new car. I guess you could say I've gotten bored with the current car because of the current capabilities it has.

Honestly, the car is not worth $3k in my opinion. Maybe $1500-2000 only because it looks good on the exterior and runs. Your upgrades are pretty much standard maintenence or trivial little things (shift knob?) ;) .... except for the paint job maybe, depending how good it is and all the trim, etc.

If I sold my car as is right now I'd be lucky to get $4-5k for it. Mind you my body is not in that good of condition, but I've spent nearly $4k alone just on new OEM toyota parts, and another $6-7k on performance upgrades and thousands more on other things like reupholstered seats, car audio, etc.

You can't turn a profit by fixing up supras and selling them. Everytime you sell you will lose money.

God damn Matt..... that's a beautiful example of a well-kept car.
Just for a little +1 for you, I showed my co-worker all your pictures, and asked him how many miles he thought were on the car if he had to guess.
He guessed 50,000mi
so there's a :bigthumb: for you
