Retail Price: $964.00

Group Buy Price: $680.00 + payment processing + shipping.

Shipping = $20 in the US, $40 to Canada.
Payment processing = 3% ($21) with paypal, and $0 with Google Checkout (some new service like paypal they are offering with no fees).

This is for the complete kit, inclusing pistons, rings, and pins. They have some instock now ready to ship, but I'm not sure exactly what bore sizes you guys will need. I'm getting the 0.040 (84mm)... I would need a minimum of 6 people + me to be able to place the order.

They have several in stock ready to ship now, so if it's ready to ship I would take full payment immediately. If it's not ready it will be 3-4 weeks so I would take a 50% deposit for now and the rest would be payable when it ships.

I'm not looking to make any money on these, I just have an ugly feeling my motor will need a rebuild soon since the oil pressure is low and I hear a slight knock over 2500rpms :( So I want to get my parts all together just incase as cheaply as possible and by offering this group buy "service" to you guys I get a better price on my own set.

So anyhow if I have 6 interested people and with the blessing of Reign Maker of course, we'll proceed ASAP.

Thanks.

These are forged, yes? If so... I might - I'm seriously considering going with a set of Probe pistons.

What's the weight on these bad boys?

What pins are used?

What rings are used?

I did a search and found this:

Weight:
Stock pistons.... 366g without
JE................... ~293g depending on bore
Ross................ 357 Grams
Arias(??).......... 310 Grams

So you can add this to the list...

CP ...................301 Grams @ 84mm bore.

I think that's pretty damn light considering the alternatives and the larger bore size.... I have digital scales here I use to weigh gold/platinum and diamonds (accurate to 0.001 carats or 0.005 grams), I'll weigh them to get you the exact weight when I get mine! :)

Plus I'm told with the CP they come fully deburred and are really a premium product with very nice fit/finish....they're ready to drop right in to the engine, no need to grind them down by hand, or however you deburr them :)

You sure are moving your build right along :) Wish I could keep up but I put in a lot of work time, = no tinker time :( I'll be looking out on a build thread or something from you about these pistons and the finished product overall.
Good Luck

CP pistons are a fantastic product and I would put them near the top choice, if my money was heading for new pistons. Also, CP does not charge extra to custom size your piston.

hey guys... you don't have to use paypal, i can take a check of course i have to wait until it clears and all, i just thought paypal would be quicker and google checkout is quick and free right now, plus i think they give you $10 for signing up towards you first purchase, so you can get a $10 discount :)

hey dave, honestly i didn't want to rebuild my motor right now, i just wanted to drop in the cams and be done for a little while and concentrate on the body, but i'm really freaked by the super low oil pressure and the very slight knocking i hear, so i'm just driving her very easy right now until i gather up all my engine parts. i'd like to get the BC billet rods as well.

Those rods from BC look great. 4130 chomoly steel CNC machined H-Beam connecting rods, that start out as a block of material=were billet, now machined. I researched this morning on them at SF and found out what billet means lol. I'd be in on this GB but I'd rather machine the block as needed compared to machining to the pistons purchased.
You've listed some nice features about these pistons, to go with the fact that these also expand the least of the forged pistons out there, which translates to a tighter tolerance in the bore. For reference, the spacing in the bores to allow for thermal expansion for Ross was at like 3.5-4mm, and JE was right around 3mm, compared to 2-2.5 for CPs.
Do you have any idea what the skirt length is?

Your oil pressure is abnormally low even when cold?

Skirt length was my next question as well - no word on wrist pin material?

Thinking a set of these + BC rods would make for a nice bottom end ;)

I'll find out about the skirt length and wrist pin material...

As for my low oil pressure... it's rediculous low, like 15-20% up the gauge from 0 on the stock gauge on the highway cruising at 3000rpms.... I'm not sure how to read that gauge, but it's roughly 1/3-1/2 up between 0 and 20psi, so what's that like 8-9psi? When I start it up it only goes to about 25psi and then goes down right to zero when it's fully warmed up and idling. So I think it's a ticking time bomb and the bottom end is no good and a bearing will let out soon.... maybe I'll pour some bitron in there and see if that helps ;)

Anyhow if you guys are really serious let me know and I'll pay all the money upfront to get this thing rolling as long as I get a commitment (deposit) from 6 people.

Thats a joke right? CP pistons would be my last choice. I cannot count how many people I know who have had CP pictons fail, from hondas to supras to LS1 engines. Weisco pistons are far better and less expensive. I would take side by side pics of the many trashed 2J CP's laying around and compare them to the wiesco's but they are in the motor.

were they all rebuilt by the same guy? :)

the shop i take my car to builds tons of motors and they highly recommended CP, that seems to be their preference... and everytime i'm there they are rebuilding another 2-3 motors, hopefully not for the same customer ;)

Any piston will fail, every piston ever made will eventually fail under hi performance use. I am willing to bet that I abuse pistons more than ANYONE on this forum, and I would only use cp customs or ross customs. Weisco is a good piston, so are JE and Arias. But don't count out CP as a good piston. If you where to plunk down 15 grand on a new Titan 3.4 stroker motor, it will have CP pistons in it. Apiston is only as good as the tuner.
