Gauging interest: 91-92 6.5" Speaker pods

here's a 91/92 door panel incase anyone was wondering..

as you can see, Toyota modified 89/90 door panels, by cutting them and afixing a new metal door panel, and using a larger speaker grille, so the sound is not obstructed...

In order to fully maximize this mod, would you not also need the panels from a 91 - 92 ?

Seems you loose nearly 1/3 of the speaker if you simply mount the 6.5 speaker behind the smaller grills on the earlier models.

Or does it not really impair the speaker much to have a third of it blocked ?

86.5-1988 door panels have small holes for the tweeter, maybe 15 or so...

89/90 panels have a smaller grille under the main one, which might help with sound, but it'd definitely nice to have 91/92 panels, but those are super-rare, they sold 3623 91's, and 1193 92's in the US...

Whoo I have a 91 and looking to part it. Umm..... Plus it has the 6.5" with tweeters. What to do, what to do.

Thanks for the feedback eveyone. I'll have them put some time into this and see what we can do. It looks promising for this and a few other projects, but first things first.

and would you offer anything for the rear speakers?

I have no plans for the rears, I did some custom pods for 6.5" speakers 10 years ago or so, but I lost the mounts for the rear cargo cover, so I didn't keep them long. There's probably enough room for some 5x7's or 4x6's, but adding the 6.5's in the front's should provide enough sound for most as long as you use quality speakers.
