Same here. Yes I know I won't be able to see it as well but ill live with it.

actually i think u can if u have them tilted lik the one hks made for the supra but RHD,
i might end up making a custom mold of fiberglass and then make a carbonfiber one

HKS did make a LHD glove box insert, just VERY hard to come by.

I think it would be a great idea if somebody made one availible to the comunity!

If I ever get my car running I'm looking to do the same thing. It's a pretty clean 89 and I didn't want to start putting gauges, boost controllers, turbo times and safc everywhere. I want to keep it stock and clean inside and I figured the only place would be to hide them away in the glove box. So I'm very interested in any ideas that come up.

Would be pretty easy to make if you can lay fiberglass or CF. That being said, gauges that far away make you take your eyes off the road for too long, and every time you hit a bump the glove box is going to bounce. It would just annoy the crap out of me. If you want a clean install, relocate the climate control and put three gauges there, and maybe the ash tray because we all know that nobody smokes in a MKIII.

I'm sure you could fab up something to stop the glove box from bouncing, but even still, if I were putting gauges there (which I'm not) I'd get ones with warnings for maximum/minimum sweep on the gauge so you know if you have a problem by the gauge beeping at you. That allows you to keep your eyes on the road. And get a minimum of 60mm gauges, as 52 would be too damn small to see while buckled in and trying to keep your eyes on the road. Not to mention potential sun glare blinding you from various angles depending on where the sun is.

Another option is to hack a spare gauge cluster and install the gauges in there. Find some that match the OEM setup fairly well and have at it with a Dremel. That'll be clean, and make it so that you can put the rest of your gauges in the center console, leaving the glove box free to store your favorite cassette tapes. LOL.

Lotek makes the 2 piller gauge pod with the o shiet handle still there. Lookes cleaner than just having 3 gauges there and then you could store your a piller safely somewhere.

Do they even make a sound or do they just flash??? I have them just no running car as of yet.
I hope you don't have the Tunes on if they do sound.
I personally went with the lotec. VERY NICE and actually keeps a very clean stock look. I also have the replacement part from Retro-Spec here in the venders section. It is a tight fit but IMHO it is safer cleaner and a much better idea of guages you cant see.

haha i'd put the non essential or not so important gauges over there, but right above the glove box on that little vent/grill "not the vent itself" would hold 3 or 4 gauges pretty nicely, just gotta use a hole saw and make a nice area behind it for the wires.
