So i have yet to order my gauges, (Going to get a electricial water temp and oil pressure gauge/s) and i was wondering wheres the best place to put the bungs, or sensors or whatever i need to do to install them. Im going to have my mechanic put them in, but i was just wondering where i should tell him to tap them in at, or whats best?

I just want to make sure my aftermarket oil psi gauge is accurate cause thats the whole reason im getting it.

The oil pressure sender should go in the stock sensor location. The water temperature sender can go in the upper radiator hose or if you can find a sensor to work on the thermostat housing, that would be good.

Others users would be more helpful as I am still gathering information on where to put all of my sensors for my gauges as well.

Ill look for the stock location using Cygnusx1. Anyone know exactly where its at?

Also, would the upper be the best place to probe it in at? I could use the BVSV place on the t-stat housing, since i dont have a charcoal can, and the vac lines to/from them have been plugged etc. Would that be good?

I don't know ...

More input please!

Thanks everyone.

I am using Prosport gauges. Here is a pic of my setup.

If you look at this page they have everything you need to do both water and oil pressure and temp.

You can get the adapters on this page to put in the water neck for the water temp gauge. thats what I have as well.

http://prosportgauges.com/installation_mounting_items.aspx

Stock location is the bolt just to the right of my oil feed adapter in the pic.

I just noticed that They actually have a great discount in the group buy section at prosport. Go figure.

Now would be a good time to get everything at once gauges and adapters.

Just thought i would pass this along.

I will probably go ahead and pick up that adapter, that looks awesome. I was also thinking about the stock BVSV location, Since i don't use it.

And for the oil pressure, just unscrew the stock one that goes into that bolt thing right of your sandwich plate and screw the new one in? Should i use teflon etc. to ensure a good seal?

If you get the plate for your oil filter you don't need to do anything but pull the original temp sender and plug it or just leave it in and do nothing. I like the plate because it lets me get a temp sensor and the pressure sensor like the pic. I actually use a remote setup. I use teflon, thats just me.

As for water. I just use the adapters for the sensors from prosport and used the waterneck. the adapters one will fit the waterneck and the other side will let the temp sensor thread into it. WORKED WELL FOR ME.

Well my factory oil psi gauge is kinda broken, and bunch bs. So i don't mind doing that. Also im on the stock oiling system, thats the next thing to upgrade.

Water neck thing, awesome. Did you get the 34mm supra one?

http://prosportgauges.com/metric-adaptor-kit.aspx this will work for you waterneck. you will only use one of them so the rest will be extra.

I am pretty sure you would ony need the 3/4-16 not the long one. just for the toyota not the one that says mr2 for the plate. As long as only the gauge is broke you don't have to pull the sender. leave it in.

if you want to screw the oil press sensor into the stock location, you will need to use an adapter. it adapts the stock 1/8x28 (bspt) to the common 1/8x27 (npt) thread. some people just screw the aftermarket right in, but it cross threads slightly.

the autometer p/n is 2269 and around $8 or so from summit.

^ What he said. I'll have to see if I can find the fitting I used. You'll want to keep the stock oil pressure gauge since the stock ecu uses it.

Edit: I can't seem to find the fitting but basically it's 1/8 bspt male to two 1/8 npt fittings on the sides plus still has the female bspt on the end of it to run the stock sensor.

So does the stock oil pressure sensor send a pressure signal to the TCCS or just directly to the gauge? Basically I'm just wondering if the TCCS needs a signal to work properly? Sorry if I am thread jacking, didn't want to create a new thread when it pertains to this one.

So i need a Y adapter that goes from the stock 1/8 bpst to (1 male 1/8bpst, then 1 female 1/8bpst, and 1 female 1/8th npt?)

the thread adapter pacakge from prosport worked for me. It allowed me to screw the oil pressure sensor into the stock location on the block, and the coolant temperature sensor into the hole previously occupied by the sensor which ran the stock temp gauge.

edit: i've been told that the stock oil pressure signal is input to the ecu, but as far as I know, it is not used for any fuel calculations. I had no issues when I removed it.

The 1tpi isn't really an issue as it's more like half a tpi due to the length it's the difference in Taper between BSPT and NPT that causes the issues.

So if i order this, and use the 1/8 BPST to the 1/8 NPT threaded one, and screw that into my stock oil sensor location ill be good? What are the downsides to removing the stock oil pressure sensor? Will the car act funny or anything? Im just curious cause im not going to be using the stock oil psi gauge at all.

Copied this over from my Prosport gauges questions thread.

So this is what im about to order, does this look like everything i need to install the gauges too?

(Water temp gauge radiator hose adapter piece)
http://prosportgauges.com/water-temp-sender-radiator-hose-adaptor.aspx?variation=18
got the 34mm one for the supras

(Adapters for stock oil sensor location, from 1/8 bpst to 1/8 npt)
http://prosportgauges.com/metric-adaptor-kit.aspx

and then the oil psi and water temp gauges
http://prosportgauges.com/amber-white-premium-oil-pressure-gauge.aspx?variation=136

http://prosportgauges.com/amber-white-premium-water-temperature.aspx?variation=138

So does that look like everything i need to get in order to install the gauges?

Is that it? If so im about to go ahead and place this order.
