I have a quick question about draining old gas from my tank. Are there any special considerations as far as draining the tank using the drain plug, specifically, thread sealant or new gasket/washer when putting the plug back in? I've got about a 1/4 tank of gas that's going on a year and a half old and I want to get rid of it and put in fresh gas. I know... I should drive her more...

Thanks,
Bruce

Last I remember there isn't any sealant on that plug...I'd smear just a little rtv on it before putting it back in. I've drained several supra tanks with that plug and the only real advice I can give you is "USE A GIANT CONTAINER!"...1/4 tank is alot of fuel and a 5 gal bucket won't do...have someone there to help you quickly change buckets if needed as the gas comes up really fast and you will make a mess if you don't have a huge container!!!

Thanks Gaboon, I just wanted to make sure before I drained the tank. Yeah, I was thinking I was going to have to have someone there with extra containers... lol. It makes wish I didn't have an electric lawn mower though...

this is kind of a bitch but will save you from spilling gas everywhere
i removed the fuel sender and stuck a hand pump w/ a piece of hose and pumped it out, took a while but save me from spilling gas everywhere,

another time i got a siphon kit from autozone, like 4 bucks, its a little tricky to get it going and cant get everything out, but atleast you dont have to sit there and pump
