yeah. my life hates me. we're so fucked now

no warning at all. oil level was full, pressure was good. BAM

I wonder if there's a hole in the other side too, because somehow it managed to take out my clutch slave cylinder which is on the drivers side, wtf

No this was owners error, this wasn't the 5MGE just crapping out cause it felt like it.

You have to remember I had a BHG for quite some time, and even though we tried to keep the oil fresh, it still had a lot of water sloshing around. This was a brand new crankshaft btw, was installed early this year. The water killed this engine I would imagine. Will look at her more in depth tomorrow.

I will not go 7M, 1J or any other engine besides a 5M, not unless someone will give it to me free and it's ready to be installed immediately.

ok daylight = can see more now.

i found a chunk of block sitting on part of the frame near the shock tower. apparently the freeze plug on the drivers side was blown clear out, the starter is destroyed, ripped right off the bellhousing. the oil pan is slashed like a dotted line.

will have more pix of 5M carnage in a bit

Although it sucks that the car is now dead... :(
I hope you a speedy recovery

Yargh - that's done some serious damage :(

However, its just the block thats had it, right?

The block, the oil pan and the starter = wasted. Dont know about the tranny yet, no visible holes in the bellhousing, the car drove fine up until the clutch pedal fell out due to the slave cylinder being knocked off. Hopefully the clutch, PP and input shaft are still good. I'm going to assume the flywheel is toast.

Hmm

looking at where the rod gave way... just seems fatigue failure as it seems right smack dab in the middle of the rod. The crank still looks fine. The block on the other hand..... :/

what really pisses me off is that I was building a good dyno history with this engine. 132whp stock, 144whp with exhaust. I never got the chance to dyno it with the intake. I'm sure she was putting down at least 150, but I'll never know. And any other 5M is going to put down different numbers.
