do not use a stock style clutch disc, the center rivits rub on the friction they hold the clutch from fully engaging, i'll post pictures tomorrow,

but it's a no go with a oem clutch disk for sure!

Disk in backwards???

Flat side should go towards the flywheel. For anyone searching.

i think fidanza just had a bad batch again
when i got my fidanza+clutchmasters stage 3 set the disc would also rub the inside of the flywheel
so had some material machined away

nah, i didn't make that mistake. i just finished a 2 year t-ten program and when i did a mkiii clutch at school my teacher pointed it out to the whole class that this clutch was different, a pull type, i allready knew that, but what i didn't know is that the springs on most clutches go towards the flywheel ,and this clutch they go towards the clutch cover (pressure plate)

he also said some other toyotas flip the disk like this, i think he said some thing about a truck with a fliped disk but a normal push style clutch..

idk but off topic lol

im gona hunt for a camera so you guys know what im talking about.

to better word it though,

the friction disk that bolts into the fw, on the id about 1/4 inch the rivits rub

it will work but you need to have the inside of the steel friction taken to a machine shop and enlarged.

You're showing a pressure plate and friction disc, where is this fidanza flywheel you were talking about? Did you mean the pressure plate?

Well this looks like the same issue i had
pimptrizkit: why didn't you notice the rubbing before installing the set?

well i didn't put the ring up to the disk to check,

and when i put the clutch together i put the pressure plate and clutch disk on the tranny input and the flywheel on the motor, bolted it together and then assembled the clutch,

on start up i couldn't get it into gear and i did hearwhat i thought was the clutch disk barley touching the flywheel and PP, so i fought with getting my clutch pedle freplay right, whitch took me a few days cause i replaced the master and slave before i adjusted the clutch pedle,

after this i never had any issue with it other then i wasn't satified with the time i ran, on the 1/4 my best time was a 13.9/14 flate with a 5spd, and i have gotten 13.5's with my auto,

once i get my new pressure plate and friction into flywheel i will be having them re-balenced before it goes back into my car.

looks like it actually is hitting the friction surface, so a new friction surface would have to be machined as well...
