I am now looking for a set of FX35 BIxenons. Does any one know if these projectors can have inerchangable hid bulbs put in the back of them or if they are one complete unit? and if you can change out the bulb what is the size of it?

And for those who have done this retrofit already where did they purchas their FX35 BIxenons projectors?

I was going to do the h4 housing set up but seems from what people have said projectors are a lot better all around.

And one more question< i have seen quite a few for sale at theretrofitsource.com

Cheap or quality?

The Bulb & housing are not one unit so You can replace the bulbs. They are D2s if I remember correctly. Yes the projectors are the way to go but are work to retrofit. Check out HIDpanet.com & search H4 & 6x7 retrofit for all the info you will need. I went with TSX Projectors this past summer & love them.

That looks fine. You're going to have to make your own wiring to connect it to the car, though.

I wouldn't worry about replacing bulbs... I've never seen a real HID bulb burn out. I've seen the ballasts die, but the bulbs are always fine.

I sourced all my stuff from eBay. I searched for wicked deals. (you want what they call "water clear" lenses, not frosted or fresnel!- The water clear produce the sharpest cutoff)

I bought full setups of water clear lensed fx's that came with the projectors, ballasts, bulbs, wiring pigtails, etc... If you plan to do this, it would likely be easier to just get the retrofit source fx's, which come modified and with mounting holes. Otherwise you'll have to cut a significant amount off of the Infiniti FX's in order to get them to fit and look good.

The bulb is D2S, and they are replaceable. Also, stay in the 4300k temp range, that'll produce the MOST usable light!

Yea..Was taken back before I Aimed & Leveled the headlights but still nice cutoff.

Looks awesome! did you make your own housing or modify an ebay housing? I feel stupid asking this, but does that one bulb function as both high and low beam?

Im going to take this on prolly spring to early summer. Going with the retrofit source fx-r projectors for sure. What ballasts/bulbs are everyone here using?

Is HIDplanet down for everyone else too?

Question for ya, How did you wire the high low actuator from the projector into the cars harness. and wire the projectors to stay on for hi and low swithching and have just the actuator tune on and off? I couldnt find a wire diagram anywhere for this wiring.

That looks like a modified housing... everyone I've seen do this takes a cheap Ebay housing and hacks up the rear to mount the projector housing.

Yes, one bulb does the same job for both high and low beam. An actuator moves the bulb forward or backward so that it's either covered partially by a shield (low beam) or not (high beam). This really is a requirement for HID setups, as they wear each time they are turned on or off, unlike conventional bulbs with a filament.

So far, all the bulbs / ballasts have the same connectors, which is great. And really, the difficult part will have been done if you get the housings / projectors set up. I'm using some Chinese generic ballasts, but I've had less than stellar luck with them - to be precise, I've blown 2 of them in ~2 years. There is a good chance I'll pick up some name brand ones next time.

I haven't seen a difference in bulbs. I've never seen an HID bulb of any sort burn out.

The wiring isn't that complicated... a relay to keep the ballasts on, and another to switch the high / low beams, I suspect. You *might* need a diode of some kind to prevent the high / low circuits from bleeding back into each other... and you'll need to verify that the solenoid that moves the bulb is really a 12v circuit.

Thanks for the input! I was thinking of using the Ebay housings but they all have lines in the lense, i wonder if that would effect output of the headlight?

What brand ballasts are you going to go with? The retrofit source claims that the Morimoto ballasts are of the best quality but i have not herd much other then that source.

The true bi-xenon projectors move the shield that actually creates the cutoff, the bulb is not moved. The bi-xenons for H4 housings move the bulb which seems to cause failure.

Depends on the lines in the housings if they will effect the pattern as well.

I see, know of any housings without lines? Theres a few people on HIDplanet that make there own lenses from .10" Acrylic. Heat it up in an oven and bend it with a wooden mold. If i could buy housings with no lines that would be much easier though.

I've got a set of ballasts from here: http://www.mobilehid.com/

They have demos where they smash them with a hammer, and put them under water, showing that they still work and can take the abuse. This is my last attempt at cheap import ballasts - if these ones fail, I'll buy a set of Hella or Mitsubishi ballasts.

Are the Hella ballasts supposed to be good? The only other ones are those Morimoto brand ones. Ive also herd some people have good results with DDM brand. Im going to look into all of them and see if i can find some testimonials.
