uhh... i owned a 2g GST. and he is no way full of crap... DSM's are easy as shit to work on. my dad got one off in less than 3 hours by himself... and that was after we had dropped it all in together from rebuilding the engine. and on the flywheel, short socket with an impact wrench is your BEST FRIEND ever. the main reason is because once you get the bolts off, you just slide it out the side. haha

DSM = easy to work on
DSM = unreliable as hell (unless you rebuild them)

and 2g DSM's crankwalk yes, but its the AWD more often than not because of the drivetrain stress, the FWD are not (i had a FWD), i had a ACT2600 PP on it, and it was stiff as fuck. 1000miles later i sold it and it was launchin just fine.

I have pulled a FWD DSM tranny, it is not that bad. 150lb wet at the most. Simple as cake. We had a motor and tranny out in like 4-5 hours (fucking autronic ecu and custom harness fucked us up, and we pulled them seperately). It is by far easier to drop the transmission than it is to lift it.

Well Weezl is pulling his first Front wheel drive trans.

Not his 5th like you ex-ricers. :ugh2:

Thanks savannahashlee! ;)

Someone abuseded a clutch! :biglaugh:

I thought crank rock is an issue on older DSMs?

But what i'd do is disable the clutch cancel. (i've done that on all my cars.)

I never have owned a DSM, I just work on them. and the 2g and 1gb crankwalk aka 7 bolts

Yeah.. CrankWalk is notorious in the 2gs but mostly in GSX, or extremely modified GS-Ts...

I didnt get any special type of clutch.. just a FENCO... Its my daily driver, I dont race it.. I am saving up money to either do a 2jzgt swap or N/A-T my white Supra.. Once I'm done with that, I've tinkered with the idea of dropping a 2jzgt and tranny into the eclipse..LOL...

This Eclipse has no crankwalk in its history.. As you can tell, thats the original clutch with 131,XXX miles on it..It was very very well taken care of, and no little shitheads tried racing with it.. It has only had 2 other owners, both of them in their late 40s..Both owners had the car serviced routinely at the Mitsubishi Dealer.. The last owner even had the convertible top replaced at the dealership..It was changed every 3,000 miles with fully synthetic oil.. she was babied.. even the seats dont look like they've been sat in much...

thats the one regret i made, i bought a hardtop eclipse... would have thought the suspension in them would be a lot better, but NOPE. i go barrling into turns and just start to spin them front tires. hahaha.

have you dont the BCS mod so you get 14psi out of that pea shooter of a turbo? or cut the BOV tube thats inside the intake?

but that is by far one of the cleanest eclipses i've seen.

zum - i just have a lot friends with eclipses, and i do a lot of side jobs for people so thats part of why im good at that, and the AWD flywheels dont fit FWD, i learned that the hardway...
