So I got all my stuff put back together in the engine compartment and I noticed a crazy looking contraption in my engine fuse box. Take a look....

Any thoughts/ideas?

I think it is the ALT 100 Fuseable link per TSRM:

So I need a new ALT 100 fuse and a new EFI Main Relay?

Could this explain why when I try to turn it over the starter just clicks once?

Also explain why someone would do the things they did to that fuse box?

Mine had that same wire, the car wouldnt start suddenly no matter what I tried. I eventually replaced that wire with a fuse and started right up.

My supra Should be an 87 not 86.5 so I dunno.

With the battery disconnected, you can pull up the section of the fuse box where that fusible link is, undo the 2 bolts holding it in place, put in a regular 100 amp fuse, replace the 2 bolts, and snap the block back in place. You can get the 100 amp fuse, with straight legs and holes for the bolts, from any auto parts store. Just ask for it for an 88 Supra.

My '88 had the wire. Actually, I haven't seen anything pre89 around here with one of the sealed units.
