Fuse blowing linked to engaging reverse gear. Input needed

Ok heres the story.

Whenever i enter reverse(R154) my fuse blows that controls, The gauge cluster, my windows and the seat power options.(15 amp, top row, closest to the driver.)

I know the car was in an accident where debris was run over, I was thinking its a possible short in the reverse sensor thing. I'm not entirely sure tho.

Any input to point me in the right direction?

Not positive right now but I'm pretty sure your back up lamps are on the same circuit. Possibly water in the tail lamps.

Well its definitely in the same circuit. I'm pretty doubtful there is water in there. But I will check anywho. The car has had this problem for a good part of a year, and hasn't been driven for a good 4 months.

wire is shorting out to ground somewhere between the switch and the tail lights.. power comes from the gauge fuse, goes through the switch then back to the lights and grounds in the back

ghetto fix.. unclip the reverse light switch at the trans...

or go searching for a frayed wire

So in theory, the wire that was run over in this accident could be frayed?

What side of the trans is it on? and is it exposed?

the wires come from the harness on the Drivers side, clips on top of the trans and the switch is located on the passenger side of the trans

The back up lights are supplied off the gage fuse as is control power for the seat and windows so yeah, a short in that line will take the things you mentioned out. Something is shorted after the reverse switch so the problem must either be under the car towards/at the rear of it. That fuse should be 7.5 amp btw.

It's a bitch to get to.

It's frayed on the transmission side. Trace from the sensor up.
