Jordan I agree with Ian take it back call them today. There was nothing we could have done from the time I left the shop (again) till that night when we attempted to start it to cause it to knock.

At this point I would try getting $$$ back.
Fucked up. I'd take it apart and check it all yourself.
This is why I hate having machine shops assemble motors. Get some nice micrometers, bore gauges, indicators etc etc and check all that shit yourself and assemble it yourself.
They did resize the rods after installing ARP bolts right? You did get ARP bolts for the rods no?
When I got them for the 7m, when I toqued them down in my vise, then checked them with my bore gauge, the cap shifted like .007. Could be the cause of instant RK
If you want to go that route. I can check everything for you......

Did the machine shop give you a blueprint of the motor? Like the rod big bores measure: .xxxx and the crank diameter measures: .xxxx

Well, I guess that I don't feel so bad that the machine shop that I took my 7M to didn't do any assembly. It does mean though that if anything goes wrong it's my own damned fault...
In that video, the first few seconds sound EXACTLY like the 7M that I'm pulling out, in which I'm expecting to find a spun bearing. I don't get that periodic miss/bang at idle though.

I'm kinda with snowman, appears one cylinder is not firing, you can see the motor rock and hear it miss just before the knock every time. I did not read the entire thread so I do not know if this was mentioned... did you perform any checks to see if you had a valve hanging open? In my opinion it is not piston slap.

Have you checked the condition of the plugs at all? Could you pull ALL the plugs and remove efi fuse and crank it to see if you still hear it?
