Funny tapping noise coming from my engine

I've started a thread on this already, but I'm back at school now and quite far away from the car so I can't do much for a while. :nono: I did snag some videos of the car idling before I left though, and while they're not great quality you can really hear the noise in some of them (it's actually not as loud as it sounds in some of these videos)

I was just wondering if those of you with good running supras could maybe take a look/listen and tell me if there's anything too out of the ordinary. :icon_bigg

Short walk around (my phone's video is limited to 15 secs):

There are quite a few noises, the valves are doing their ticking thing, the exhaust is pretty loud, and the divorced downpipe wastegate tube leaks a tiny bit. However, the one that concerns me is the sort of "spit" or "thwak" sort of noise. It sounds a lot like the beginnings of rod knock! :aigo:

It's not rod knock.

The noise is only at idle, if I rev it higher I can't hear it. It may still be there, but it's drowned out by the other noises.

It's right where the engine/trans connect, yes.

Loose flywheel is something I haven't had a chance to check for, but it could very well be making the noise.

I guess we have the same problem then. I have an automatic though.

The noise stops completely when I idle up over 1500ish.
Sometimes it will tap/rattle the second I start the car, sometimes it won't do it at all.

I took off the tranny cover plate and checked the bolts connecting the flex plate to the torque converter. One was loose, but after tightening all of them - the noise is still there.

I couldn't find anything that even moved outside of the tranny..so I'm kind of at a loss right now =/

Luckily, as you said, it is not rod knock.

Out of the blue my buddy's supra started knocking. I though it was a rod. But i've gone through that before and it was too loud at idle to be that. So I dug deeper and the oil pump driveshaft gear bolt came out somehow and made it jump timing by alot. that would explain it running like shit. Sorry for stealing the thread. Just figured I would leave my input
