I went over to Tims to help him pull his borked r154. I got there and he already had it out (for what? the 3 time in the last month?). He needed the tail section off it for his rebuilt r154 because it looked like his original was warped or something...

anyway, after pulling the tail case off, and seeing how much "liquid sandpaper" was in it (hint: gear oil is not supposed to be silver) he was not excited about using it, and here is the punchline...

I said "Hey, I have a spare r154 in my car, lets use it for parts" :wiggle:

You know you drive a mk3 when you just happen to have a spare transmission in your car :eek3: ....ROFL!

In all honesty I had just come back from Portland where I got the trans and hadnt taken it out of my car yet. but I giggled like a schoolgirl.

You know you're a supra owner when you like to read threads about Supras messing up, so you can pick at it like a vulture..!

the r154 I got today is just a rebuilder. I went over to Ben's (bkma71) house to pick up a targa top. He had a 3E5 one in perfect shape, and mine is so borked...anyway, I had also gone up there to look at a transmission, but before I left Keelan offered me his for free...so yeah

anyway while I was at Ben's I asked about r154's and he said he had one he was gonna dump. For free I decided I could take it, take it apart, follow the manual and learn to rebuild a transmission....I mean how hard can it be? :naughty:

Im just gonna use it for learning on. This summer when I do my full rebuild I will do a 5spd swap then as well.

yeah I know you are, and like we talked about if there was anything I could do to make that faster or easier for you I would. No, it didnt come with anything else, just the trans. The good thing about it was the inside was actually in suprisingly good shape. At least in the tail section. The lube was amber, unlike Tim's metal flake nightmare. I think it will make a good rebuilder.

We still have to figure out a price, but I'll give you a fair price for your auto AND I'll come help ya pull it. Hell, I'll come pull it and you can stand around and watch, lol. Never let it be said that I was afraid to get dirty to get a good deal :naughty:

Oh and back on topic. I know the whole "you know you drive a supra when..." thing has been done to death, but come on...I had a TRANSMISSION in my car when Tim needed transmission parts...lol
