Can someone give me an idea how to tell the difference between model years by the harness? Found two really clean ones, but the guy has no idea what year they're from and I'd rather get the right computer instead of repinning a bunch of crap...

And there are tons of variations outside of that. There should be a part number on the wrapping that you can cross referance.

+1

This is SO true. I don't know where the thinking came from that all you need to do is find out if it is grey or yellow. I've moved my motor from a 90 to an 89, and now to a 92. All use grey , but each time, I have swapped or re-pinned the harnesses.

awesome, that's exactly what i was looking for cause i was runnin through my Haynes manual and noticed in the crap bucket diagrams they have went from 87 (? not in front of me) right to 92, but I've been around toyo long enough to know the bastards can and will change stuff every couple omnths if they can! I think I'ma try to snag both if he'll come off em for the right price... Thanks guys!

Are you dealing with a junkyard, or an individual? You'd probably be better off with a junkyard than a Supra enthusiast.

Some of the grey ones can still be ordered through Toyota, and sourced out of Japan for roughly $550 (brand new). The yellow plugged ones are all getting pretty brittle, and can't be bought new anymore. Pricing for used around here is generally $100-$150 on the yellow, and $150-$200 on the grey ones.
