Fuel volume vs pressure

I've been reading up on the oiling problems of the 7m and saw that better flow was better than more pressure. I saw that there were many wrinkles in the oil system and methods to increase flow were used. I was wondering if the same thing can be done regarding the fuel system. Instead of increasing pressure with fpr's and walbros, is the a way to increase volume(flow) from the tank to the injectors?

There are a few key differences in the two systems:

- Gasoline has a far lower viscosity than oil...this alone allows a much greater flow rate.
- The injector spray pattern is based on pressure...a minimum is required for sufficient atomization.
- The FPR returns fuel to the tank based on pressure...this is what ensures adequate pressure to the injectors.

The volume of the stock fuel lines are adequate up to 400-450 HP or so. You don't need higher volume mod's (like bigger lines, pump, etc) until you have the engine that can use it. In fact, more volume can cause tuning problems if the system can't return the excess back to the tank.

Interesting. I recently started a thread on the stock fuel lines and I was told that they were good for higher numbers than that. Why do you say they are only good for 450? This is very important to me because I am shooting for that amount of power and have stock fuel lines in the car.

If you are going for 450 HP, the stock lines are fine (like I said - "adequate"...i.e. good enough). For above that, you can use the stock lines, but you will start going into the safety margin for flow from the pump. That would risk a lean condition at top HP in the case of another issue, like boost overshoot or a voltage drop to the pump. Great way to torch a piston.

Interesting. Didn't think the stock lines would struggle into the 500hp range. Never heard of that 'issue' before at all this point, at least for that power goal. What do most people use to upgrade?

I didn't say "struggle"...I said you start to lose your safety margin. Big difference.
(reading comprehension a problem for you guys?)

AN-8 lines will supply all the fuel you need.

would dash 6 be more ideal for a 500 ish setup i figured dash 8 would be overkill for those levels but perhaps i'm wrong which is why i am asking.

I thought -6 was bigger than -8? I thought 0 was the smallest and went up and got smaller (Like speaker wire) but i could be wrong.
