Fuel Tank reconditioning

I have a stock 88 Supra with a leaky tank. I thought it was the filler tube, but after replacing the gasket for it, it still leaks anytime I have more than 3/8 of a tank, so I think the seam is rusted through somewhere.

So.. I purchased a tank (used, but holds fuel). It has been undercoated, but it has some rust areas around the lids on the top (3 of them) and around the spout area.

My question is.. because I have the tank out, what would be the best things to do to it prior to popping it on my car. I will be replacing all seals (just because it makes sense to do it now) and am thinking I should drop a Walbro fuel pump into it.

Just wondering if there is anything I should do to make it a "perfect" gas tank (no I wont chrome it.. lol) before putting it into my baby..

Yeah, I plan to go up to 550 - 800 cc injectors (not 1000's). I am guessing the walbro is sufficient for fuel flow, I have an opportunity to pick up a MKIV hanger for a dual setup, but I am not getting into serious HP plans... so I think thats a bit of overkill. If I get over 400 HP at the wheels when I am done.. I am happy.

I could actually get it painted (I am getting body/paint done next month) same as the car (would only paint the bottom). I dont drive the car in winter and generally baby it, I just dont want to do this twice ever.. lol.

Anyone have a recommendation for the rust areas? (the parts where the metal is joined and then flattened has rust along that seam). Wondering if I should sand it, wire brush it or just clean it up and coat it. I dont mind spending $$ on a good sealer providing its not stupid :)

I saw an ad once (cant find it in the forums) for a coating that you basically blend in the gas tank, swish it around and leave it sit for 2 days and it forms like a concrete barrier inside the tank that will never corrode. However, I think if I deal with the rust areas that have popped up (mostly surface rust), if it has survived for 22 years, it should survive another 22 years. I'm not sure what the 3 doors are for, I know the big one is supposed to be for the fuel pump hanger (I think) and one is for some electronics (maybe fuel level...). I will be peeking at the TSRM, but I dont think I need to replace or upgrade anything other than the pump itself. However, I am not sure if I need to worry about metering the fuel at all. I doubt I do unless I was going with a totally different setup.

Kreem, follow the instructions exactly and it works well.

Been using this stuff for years now without an issue.

That was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!!
I think I will get 2 sets, treat the other tank and sell it. Pretty sure that MKIII's are prone to the problem I have because of that silly rock protector being just far enough away to let small gravel and dirt collect on the spout side of the tank and sit there and hold moisture on the tank.

It doesnt say what size of tank though .. when you use it how many do you buy? (I believe it is intended in this "sale format" for motorcycle gas tanks...)
