fuel gauge not reading

My f/g either doesn't read at all or is intermittant. I can live with it if this would be a major fix presumably involving the fuel tank.

Any sage advice would be welcome.

Yep, what Ian said. There used to be a writeup on how to clean the contacts, but it's fairly straightforward.
It does require dropping the tank, and if it were me, since I did all the work to drop it, I'd rather have a new sender.

Usually all it takes is to clean the contacts where the level sensor slides, however.

No, to access the fuel pump, you need to drop the tank. The access panel you see near the spare tire well is for the fuel level sender, as JJ linked to.

No...you must drop the tank to get at the pump:-(

either way it's not a very big job...maybe 30min job for someone who's done it before.
