Fuel Gauge not accurate.

Ok so im going to be replacing my fuel pump next week. But while the tank is off the car, I also want to fix my gauge problem. When ever I fill my tank with gas the needle on the gauge will go below empty and it never reads accurately its always off by allot, lets say I have half a tank if will only read 1/4 or a tank on the gauge. So what do I need to replace to fix this problem, and where can I buy the part at? Thanks
