This internet language is foreign to me!:aigo: I used to be a beer truck driver in Sparks, NV. and I delivered to the Mustang Ranch, (1&2), and Old Bridge Ranch. Well, alot of Hells Angels, and other mean biker types,:evil2: used to hang out there, and they'de have colors on that read, "FTW". However, it stood for "Fuck the world", not "for the win":icon_razz I guess times have changed!
And, oh yeah, it was definately a good delivery stop!

Eh.. most of this jibberish talk has come from older video games; almost always made up by gamers.
FTW is just a reference to something being "cool" or "tight" lately; but I have been using it for about a year in WC3 TFT Dota.
I don't think I have ever used it in real life though; I'm pretty sure everyone would just be straight WTF then I'd be ROFL and dennis would be like OMFG, GTFO n STFU newb. Then I'd just be like, wtf Pwnd ITB.

It's just like the saying noob/n00b/newb/nub. All came from "newbie" which was the first term given to new "babies" since there always has to be names to call people since the massive population of gamers is guys and all guys do is pick on each other.
It's a term for the inexperienced, normally used as an insult.
Also, most people just like to talk with as many abbreviations as possible; it does make life easier on the e-web.
