I got 2 intercoolers for free, one is long and short height wise and the other is short length wise but fat or deep and I would like to know if there are certain sizes our MK3s can fit FMICs or do I just have to remove the bumper and test fit? Thanks.

Take some measurements and maybe we can help you out. I fit one with a 24x12x3" core in and out on opposite ends without relocating anything or taking off the bumper...had to do the slightest trim of the hood support 1/2" x 3" spot, and bent over one of the tabs the factory IC mounts to

So I just remove the bumper and put temporarily mount the intercooler and see if the bumper fits and the intercooler has clearance and such right?

You don't need to remove the bumper. You're going to place it between the radiator support and the bumper support. You will probably slide it up in there from underneath the car. The hood latch support with the horn on it will probably be in the way from above. There is a lot of room in there.

I don't know for sure whether or not the USDM & JDM intercoolers are the same, but here's a quick intercooler comparison for stock intercoolers:

Both the Toyota 1J application intercoolers listed are very good for a factory intercooler. A lot of people don't realize that the stocker is a half decent unit.

I would sell both of them and get me a stock intercooler or a clean after market intercooler, the first one looks like it might have a leak.

I remember hearing the stock intercooler piping is restrictive, is that right? If so then maybe just replacing the piping would be as good as an aftermarket intercooler?

Typically a bigger problem with the stock piping at this point is pieces are cracking and leaking. The hard pipes definitely make a difference though.

Yea I would assume after 21 years and the car I have was sitting for like 3 years being started every now and then with the previous owner, which is why the radiator cracked when I test drove it lol. It will help me get some money together to change my head gasket as well but I am also selling a couple of rims with tires too. Thanks everyone for the help and advice.

x2 i am doing this now. I have my car on jacks and there is a lot of room without taking off the front bumper

I don't see where you mentioned what your current setup is or what your plans are. If you're running a bone stock CT-26, there is no advantage to an after market FMIC other than for the looks. If you plan on going with a bigger turbo and injectors, then by all means a FMIC will help you in the long run. Your decision to go through the headache of mounting a FMIC should be based on what you want to get out of it...routing custom hard pipes and hanging the FMIC itself is no walk in the park. Seeing you received both units for free, I would try and sell them and use the money towards the goal you want to reach. Neither of them look to be in good shape, so getting anything out of them might be a challenge, but there is always someone out there needing what others have. Good luck.

That is another reason why I was leaning toward selling them lol, my car is complete stock except for the filter for the turbo and my goal with this motor would be 400hp or so but that is a long long long way from now. I plan on selling the intercoolers and 2 rims I got to fix my head gasket with ARP studs, I already posted them up on a local forum hopefully I can sell them soon so I can get to work on fixing the supra and driving her again. I miss her so much already.
