the supra has been in the shed for 2 years and prior to this was not leaking

thanks in advance for any kind of help =]

Got to pull the pulleys and timing pulley off the crank snout. Id replace all the seals unless they are fresh already (cams, oil pump shaft, etc..) Inspect the keyway as well. I would replace the timing belt pulley also with the updated one because if yours comes apart, you get to do it again :)

Not that bad of a job really just a bit time consuming.

Hey thanks for the quick reply and the advice, i was also just wondering if this will be a re occuring problem? or is it common for front seals to deteriorate to this degree over time?

Shouldnt be unless its damaged on install, installed wrong, or the crank case has excessive blow by.

Seals do get old and hard, when they do they leak. Often times an old seal will not leak due to deposits built up in that area, switching to a synthetic oil does a very good job of cleaning out engine deposits. The result is you will get a leak.

Cam, main, and oil pump shaft seals usually leak straight down the front timing belt covers and drip out the hole on the bottom aluminum cover. It then covers the front of the oil pan and sub-frame.
If a new front seal is leaking, it was either a poor quality aftermarket seal or it was installed wrong. Toyota OEM seals are the way to go IMO.

Run a spell checker sport and use decent sentences...your posts are pretty hard to read.

On that side of the motor, I would take a look at the cam cover gaskets. There are two locations on the front arc that specs RTV sealant in the TRSM.

replace both the front main seal and the oil pump driveshaft seal because i replaced a front main seal when in fact the mleak was from the other one so save yourself some headache and replace both.
