hello. i was too lazy to change my oil today, so i had it done. they told me my front main is seal is leaking. i lose about a quart every 1000 mi. i have searched and found nothing as far as a reference chart or a link. i have even gone through the TSRM and found nothing. does someone know of a link that can point me in the right direction?

thanks,
daryl

yep, I've done it... Just like doing the timing belt pretty much but obviously you're removing a seal and replacing in the process

Might as well change the timing belt & check the tensioner while you're there ;)
Assuming it's got a lot of miles on it.

so your saying it's easy? i was told that it is expensive and quite the job. the engine is a jdm that has approx. 50k mi. about how long does it take for someone that has never done it before? if it's not long, i will attempt it myself. i work long hours and have very little free time.

thanks everyone for the help.

:edit: any special tools needed?

It's not hard, but is time consuming. Nothing special, but you will need a 19mm deep socket and breaker bar for the crank pulley. And a torque wrench that goes to 195 ft/lbs ;)

If that's a JDM motor and it has the same timing belt it cam with, I'd replace it. Check the rest of your belts too ;)

No special tools, and it's pretty easy. I can do it in ~3 hours, so give yourself double that, plus some time to run to the parts store and buy some extra parts that you discover need replacing. :)
