Hey guys, I'm going to be trading my '83 Porsche 944 for my friend's '87 Supra, and wanted to read up on some possibilities. I'll probably put another post up about my plans with the new Supra, but I live in Iowa and am turning 18 this weekend. Wanna know anything else? feel free to ask.

I got a 944 n/a, its a fun car. Neutral balance for corners and still takes a lot of cars :)
Working on it requires more patience as its harder to get to things though you don't have to be as creative about it.
Have fun with it, just stay on top of your maintainance

There's my baby :) I've also got a truck for the winter, so I'm set there.

It handles like its on rails, and is 2,600lbs... nice and quick, but frankly it does lack power ha. My friend has been wishing he had handling, and I've been wishing I had power, so that's why we're trading.

Trust me I know. Some bonehead at AAMCO Transmissions in Ames, IA swapped out the clutch for the previous owner, and forgot to torque the flywheel bolts:icon_mad:

We had to drop the trans, torque tube, axleshafts, move the engine, urrgh

Fun to drive though. lol

Well I certainly have some incentive, he's makin it worth my while. Also, I'm shipping out to Boot June 4th, so I figure I'd rather have fun with something new in the meantime.

Wow, our porsche looks 100% exactly the same. Black with those same black wheels with polished lip. I don't know what kind of condition the two cars are in but I'd probably take a good 944 over a good Supra too. If they needed work I'd prefer the Supra but that's cause the 944 is a pain to do work on =)

Porsches have ALWAYS been a pain to work on.
I had a 914-2.0 that would drive me insane with what I had to take off first just to get to what I needed to work on.:aigo:

I got a '77 924. The handling won't be as nice, but you'll love the power.

Also you'll probably get the same thing when you told people you drive a porsche.

"I drive a porsche"
"a 911?!"
"No a 944"
"oh..."

but instead it'll be like

"I drive a supra"
"Like the one from fast and the furious?"
"No the older one"
"Oh..."
