Ok, here's the background on the car. It's a MKIII 7MGE. Originally he was just going to sell me this car really cheap. He has had it for over a year right now in it's current state.
It's original motor went on it and he swapped in a JDM 7MGE and everything appears to be where it should be. The problem is that the damn thing just will not start. It almost starts up, sorta sputters and coughs, fires a little bit then just keeps cranking.
We have changed out so far, off of my parts car here;
ECU, Ignitor/coil, distributor.
We have adjusted the timing and things of note regarding this are;
Won't fire or cough or sputter when timing is close to TDC. But when timing is way off retarded by like 15 or more it seems like it is closer to actually starting.
Other things of note;
The fuel pump relay doesn't seem to wanna come on with the key. It just doesn't get power to flip it on. It does however run when you jumper the FP to B+ in the service plug. I realize this is pointing to some type of wiring issue and I will be tracking this down on my next visit. But I think it should fire up if it's jumpered.
When the pump is jumpered to be on, the fuel rail sounds, well for lack of a better word, slushie. Like a liquidy noise in the front of the fuel rail near what I believe to be either the damper or the stock FPR.
The car is bone stock in all ways except for this JDM &MGE which is bone stock also.
If we can't get this car running it's going to be mine, but honestly I would rather help this guy get it going and allow him to continue to be a supra owner. It's just such a damn shame considering the car so nearly starts.
It is getting spark, it appears to be getting fuel. It almost starts but not quite.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can help this guy keep his car and get it going before he leaves.
