Freshly installed Apexi AFC-R problem. WIERD!!!!

So I finally finished installing my new apexi AVC-R and when I go to try it out it cuts out. It only cuts on when holding down a button but then cuts off the moment you release. I'm almost certain I wired everything correctly and the unit seems to be working but I can't use it. I can hear the solenoid click everytime I push a button. Can anyone make any sense outta this? Is the unit trash?

HELP!!!

edit: oh yea, the lights come on normally like everything works, it only operates while a buttons
pressed down.

I wish there was such a thing. As far as I can see theres only prev, next, up, down, left, and right. Whats wierd is that I can somehow navigate through some of the menu by random combinations of holding down buttons. So Im sure the unit works....theres just some sort of short. What can I do?
