a supra isnt a dsm, where the owners are shooting for 400 hp off $100. Then they wonder why their car is having problems all the time. Stop trying to be cheap.....

LOL!!! That's funny because thats where I was trained on the art of free mods from 2000-2001 when I had my 1992 AWD Talon.. ahhh the DSM scene....

I miss it now :( Edit: the car not the scene.

The screw mod allows more air past the AFM, which allows more boost before fuel cut. 1 or 2 more psi will add more power. Taking out the air filter? That's just unsafe. The filter is one of the least restrictive components in the stock intake system anyway.

the "screw mod" works marginal at best, maybe another half psi or so, not worth even wasting the time. Fuel cut is there for a reason, even if you can get around it your stock 440's will only flow so much.

Taking the filter out is unsafe? and cutting the exhaust at the down pipe isn't a bad idea for a few extra ponies? Neither one is worth the increase, but he said he wanted things he could do for free. I also ment to remove the front lid of the stock air box aswell, putting it back together without a filter would be pointless.

Timing advance to 12 btdc, I heard some guy gained around 20-30 rwhp (read it a year ago on these forums). It's free and seeminly safe if you run premium. That's the only free mod I think is safe/worth it :)

Open downpipe is loud and stuff, removing the filter is stupid and the intake isn't really that restrictive, the AFM mod has been considered an "iffy" mod and some say it does nothing but screw with the fuel map across the RPMs, and gutting the interior doesn't add power so I don't even know why some people suggested it. Shimming isn't free, but close to it, and is a safer idea than advancing timing, but he wanted free...lol.

Is this a joke? lol

Did you read the rest or just stop there? I was pointing out that all ideas (removing airfilter/box, cutting downpipe, shimming wastegate, getting around fuel cut for more boost) are all stupid ideas without actually spending money on "smart mods".

If you had read the rest you would see i was comparing it, not asking a question, But im sure you already knew that. :icon_roll

Sounds like you believe there is no consequence to removing the air filter by the way it was written. The way I learned it, Question mark= asking a question. Right?

No worries Ma70. Would just be a shame to see the OP or someone looking for quick power, to go run through a patch of sand or a puddle and need a new engine becuase of a miscommunication in here.

There is a FREE way to go fast!

Take everything out of your car. Seats, plastics, AC, Power Steering, all that nice sound insulation, spare tire, anything else you can get your hands on.

Your car will be ghetto, lack all luxury, and noisy as hell. But you will go a little faster, which is almost like having more horsepower. All for free.

(better yet, save up money to get more horsepower and keep your luxury items in your luxury car).

Ma70, no heat, just misinterpretation.

Never said anything about bieng safe, just what can he do for free horsepower. would also be a shame if they gutted the cats or cut the exhaust because we wouldnt want the OP to either get a ticket on the first test run or fail inspection.

Its all good though, just the internet.

You will notice the biggest gain from exhaust on a totally stock car, a good three inch down pipe and cat back would be the best first move.

After that, a little more boost, anything more then that requires other supporting upgrades to be stable.

Exhaust will definetly be the quickest and cheapest bang for the buck on the MK3, and most turbo applications. Upgrading the entire exhaust is the biggest change your gonna feel from the butt dyno.

This thread reminds me of how stupid I was when I first got into supra's...Except I would look for cheap mods, not free ones. Apparently it's only gotten worse
