Found the black box.

Well almost done changing the HG on my brothers car I saw this little magic box connected to the turbo pressure sensor. And it was very nicely connected but what can it do more than manipulate the boost guage? Probably nothing but Id sure like to know. As you can se the connector says "RS". And the only thing visable on the box is a little potentiometer.

maybe it was used to calibrate the gauge

Since the sensor only drives the gauge, that's the only purpose it could have.

I agree about the calibration but why I wonder. Its def not a hack job all the connectors is crimped on very nicely on the stock wires and the box doesnt look to be home made.
As soon as we get an aftermarket boost guage Ill play around with the pot and see what happens.
