Found out why my engine blew, you wont believe this

Engine is ALL back in, ready to fire again, Ive been having vac leak problems but I found my issue, time to get it all back up and running, my battery is charging at a friends house overnight, tomorrow is the day, I feel it.

fixed vac leaks, made the damn plenum gasket from a roll of gasket material, worked great, just trying to smooth the idle now.

or was it the plenum-y-pipe one? thats not too bad, but the plenum-manifold would stink.

Iwas idling the car with the new NGK plugs installed and then it started, clack! tick tick tick tick, all through the RPM bands. I read somewhere the exhaust gasket could do this or something, wtf? Its gotta be valve shims, I kinda ghetto rigged shit when I reinstalled the intake valves last week, guess this is my fault, waiting on my new head to come in, already had this shit done... I really hate replacing the head, taking it off is such a damn bitch! I cant get the EGR off of it to remove shit.
The tranny still has no shifter and no oil in it, but its been kept in neutral.

No, but you cant tell anyways, theres lifters over the valves, wont be able to see anything til I take the cams out, while Im doing it all, I might as well just wait for my other head to come in if it EVER does, and get it in there, its had a valve job 7k miles ago and came from a running supra. just pisses me off, BAD. I was DONE, DONE DONE DONE. It was DRIVEable and even though its still on jackstands all I had to do was take it down, and drive it around.
