Found out why my engine blew, you wont believe this

So I got my new oil pump, noticed something on it that wasnt on the old one.

My car had rod knock BTW and the 3rd rod bearing ate itself to death. The oil pump sits over it.

Well What I noticed missing was the bracket that is welded to the pump screen underside and bolts on the block next to the union nut, about 6 in away. Its obvious, the damn thing, unbolted and fell off, there was a section on the pump for it, it broke off, you can see it. Ill take pics later, but that makes more sense now to WHY and HOW this all happened. Sucks knowing I had a great 7M running strong aside from this BS.

If I'm understanding him right, I would assume he thinks debris got into the flow and killed the bearings.

The bracket came off, was bouncing around in there. Its debris got into the bearing and caused it to fail. It also whacked the fuckin pump so hard that it broke it, there was a crack straight through it on the bottom side that shoots down toward the driveshaft. It was pretty fucked up and considering theres no remaining pieces of either the bracket or the bearing aside from a few small shavings, It was bad lol.

Hmm....if I told you of small box with programmable set points that would monitor critical functions in your engine and annunciate warnings in a female voice when those set points were exceeded what would you be willing to pay for it?

BTW, I can rotate the damn drive shaft on teh oil pump,, its cracked all the way through around.
