I'm looking to upgrade my foglight bulbs with a set of Xenon H3 bulbs, I've been either considering the Hella High Performance bulbs or the Optilux Extreme XY Yellow bulbs (for that JDM fog look). Please post pics of your foglights so I can see how each looks (I mean white and yellow).

I tried this for a while... the extra heat generated by the higher wattage bulbs caused them to burn out every couple months. It was annoying enough that I went back to stock bulbs.
Hmm, that's odd. What voltage were the bulbs? I've heard if you switch over to 100W bulbs, the exact thing that you mentioned will happen. I've been told that won't happen if you use 55W bulbs.

That's odd, I've had 130w Hella bulbs in mine for a couple years now and haven't had them burn out yet.

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that high-quality bulbs would be made to last as long as normal ones. And maybe some run-of-the-mill ones would burn out faster because all the manufacturer did to increase the wattage was turn down the resistance in the bulb, which would then make it brighter, but of course it would go out faster. For the hella ones and piaa and those sorts, i would imagine they make sure its a good vaccuum inside the bulb and I'm sure they use better Tungsten(They do use Tungsten right?) than most the "regular" brands. Or maybe they coat them as well?

Seem logical?

I seemed to have that problem too. I also have been hesitant to put in expensive bulbs for that reason but I'm sure they would be fine.

^ I have the Sylvania silverstars and love them.(Headlights that is.) The fog light bulbs were like 21.00 or something.
Edit: I bought them from the link in the first post.

I have 70W Yellow Nokya's, says 2500k on the box...

they were nice and yellow, but I decided to paint the fogs yellow also, because I like the look of yellow fogs, even if unlit...

now they're extra yellow...:D

Don't get those yellowstars, they are crap. I put them in and it just looks like a dirty white. I looked into those Nokya's and decided to get those. I'm just glad the Hella's were only 20.00. Just thought I'd share my findings.
