How did you prep your trim for paint? Just some wetsand? Is there anything special you need to do? Just wondering.

Also, how would one go about reattaching the piece of rubber on the trim? Mine is just starting to come off in pieces.

wet sand the trims, and when you go to your local paint store, they should have an additive you apply before you put the base coat down, i used a bottle of bull dog, that allows the molding to flex without cracking the paint, as far as the rubber piece on the trim, you might have to do some tricky business on that guy maybe a small piece of double sided tape?

hes right, the best thing to use is some sort of adhesion promoter, bulldog is one of the easier ones to find. Use that after you wet sand them

I wet sanded as well and then I used a liquid sand paper just for funzies. Then primer, paint and clear. Has held up ferfect for the last 3 years. As far as trim I bought new at a trim shop. Just take in a piece of your old trim and they can match it up close enough. The new trim will come with 3M sticky goodness!!

heres a basic how to
step 1
take trim off car
step 2
wash very very well with dish washing soap
step 3
sand the trim down with a maroon scuff pad
step 4
wash again in dish soap
step 5
wipe down with isopropyl alcohol or a good paint prep solution
step 6
spray a good adhesion promoter,I would suggest a this house of kolor promoter
http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=HOK%20AP01-4Z
its only 8 bucks+shipping but there are others that you can get in spray cans
step 7
you have a max of about 5 minutes after you spray the promoter to spray a primer. So do it fast but neat
step 8
spray color
step 9
spray clear
step 10
drink beer

hope this helps
