Buel head lamps.
Less than 100.00 for the lamp, it has both your high and low beam, but as noted, it's going to cause your lamps to shift to one side as you use them.. (No big deal, unless your standing right in front of the car and give a rat's ass about symmetry.)

The adventure rider guys are "upgrading" their single head lamps to this Buel lamp deal and everyone pretty much agrees these lights have the best bang for the buck. You could buy a car HID lamp kit, and have hid low beams and use higher wattage high beam bulbs and get some very respectable light from these lamps. Some of the bike guys are using a car HID kit and putting both HID bulbs in the head light, and they love it. (That's my plan eventually for my KTM 620 RXC. The buel lamp with a cheapo Ebay HID setup in the low beams, and a silverstar high beam bulb so you can "flash" people and actually have it work. HID's take a second or two while they warm up, so flashing high beams with true HID's does not work very well.)

Lucky for me, my brother has a bike, so splitting a car kit is the best option. :)

Ok, motorcycle dual lamp setup. One is on for low, and one for high. They are setup so there is a top, or right way up. (So, if the right lamp is the low beam, the left is the high beam...)

Now, if you used two of them, one in each lamp location, the low beam would still be the left one... but it would be the left one on both sides... So, when you go from high to low, the beams would both shift to one side so to speak, or if you had it wired up so both lamps are lit, they would light up wider to the one side.

Most automotive applications if they have quad lamps, use the outer most ones for the low beam, and the inner ones for the high. With the Buell lamps, you could not do that. (The lenses are designed for the high and low beams too, so just changing out the wires would not work.)

The DRZ and KLR guys rave about these lamps being awesome, but I have not tried them yet. My KTM has a crappy old worn out 35watt lamp that is OK to let other traffic know I'm there, but it totally sucks at night. The silver backing is all flaking off, and much of the light just glows up around my speedo and front plastic/forks etc.

Gee.... and I have a bit of OCD in me..... I do actually mind the symmetry in that way. And I know that no matter how hard I try, it will keep bugging me (I know, it's stupid, but I really can't help it).

Oh well, anyone else got any other ideas?
