I recently purchased an 87 turbo 5speed. car runs great starts up every time.

The Heater is blocked off at the rear right if you are facing the engine and most of the vac lines are blocked off aswell.(i can include a photo if needed will need a camera though first)with an aftermarket bov tied into the 3000 hose piping. and the 2 vent hole from the top of each valve cover have 2 hoses running to the front of the engine bay vented to atmosphere.

The question is when starting the car and when shifting i hear a fluid (water) sound comming from the rear of the engine inside the cabin.

Is this normal? I'm guessing its the coolant. still concerns me a bit.
And do i need to rework the vac lines or could the car stay as is for another year? General question I know but the liquid sound is my real concern.

ps- I did try searching for a post similar to mine with no matches(to the liquid sound), so if this is covered a link would be great.

Usually that means there is air in the coolant system. Which in turn can mean BHG. But it can be as simple as burping the coolant system.

well i jacked the car up as high as i could on the inclined driveway. So total height of the front was maybe 3 feet off the ground?. Took the rad cap off and gassed it at 2000 then 2500 held it there for about a minute then up to 3 held it then let off. A pretty large bubble came out. I repeated that step after 2 minutes or so of letting the car run. this time a tiny bubble. I then held the car at 3-4 reving up to 5 held it between 3-4k for about 2 minutes then let off and a massive overflow happened. i tried it one more time and nothing else came out.

I lowered the car filled it up and capped it off and took it for a drive. Im still getting that water sound but its not AS loud :(. also when i rev past 3 the coolant gets a white/milky hue to it for a bit. i also found out im dripping a good bit of oil directly under my exhaust manifold. so who knows. ( I wasn't even supposed to have my car on jack stands in my driveway :-o. HOA's RULES!!!!) car still runs strong with no smoke out the 3 inch pipe.

from my experience milky color in the coolant isn't a good thing especially in cars so prone to BHG, I'd recommend having the coolant tested for exhaust gases, as this confirmed mine to be blown, if you catch it early you can save yourself some catastrophic damage to the motor

how much is that going to cost me? ughhh why do the sexy cars always have the biggest issues :(. unfortunately this car is my dd for a while, so ill have to wait a bit on that. even if the white only shows up in high rpms? i guess that would make sense if its leaking into it under more pressure. could it just be the coolant getting hot?----

i just found a test kit. Thanks for the info chainggun. payday needs to hurry up!
