lol, post how you fixed it so that, later, when someone else is searching for a similar problem, they know what you did. :)

lol, alright. well what i did was that i found the ground to where the gauge grounds out at. its under the intake right where the transmission dip stick is. or kinda by the brake fluid res. there are 2 connectors there on my 86.5 that is screwed into the manifold by a 12mm bolt. i took my dremel tool, and wire wheeled it for a good couple of minutes. and i also took some plastic friendly electrical cleaner and sprayed the connectors. the intake side, each connection, and screw itself. and when i screwed the connections back in, i sandwhiched in a washer the same size in there too. and then i went to the thermostat housing, and sprayed the injector temperature sensor, (the sensor that is directly top of the housing) the temp gauge sensor, (the sensor on the side) and there is a plug underneath the the gauge sensor. i completely soaked all those, and whiped the dirt an oil off them. put everything back together and my gauge was steady again. if you get confused or am a visual person like me, let me know and i will post pictures.

this is a picture of the location where the ground of the temp gauge is located

that is the 12mm bolt with the two connections. connection 1 has 2 wires, and connection 2 is just one wire. (you'll understand when you take it off) i cleaned everything there with a wire brush, and electrical cleaner.

this is a pic of the thermostat housing. every labled connector, i took off and cleaned with electrical parts cleaner, and whiped them clean with q-tips.

i hope all this helps. if you guys are still confused, pm me.
