I'm guessing i'd want to stay TOTALLY away from a flood-car...but i had to ask because somebody's selling a nice jeep (well...the body and such) for really cheap...100 bux (or make offer "any offer!") maybe they left off a zero...i sent an email.

nice shell...except the interior apparently is shot. it molded...

they said they changed all the fluids...but also that it needs to be towed away. not sure why yet

what, the interior?

its already mostly out.

and yeah it does sound like it would take some work to make it usable..but i dont have any idea since i dont have experiance with this. thanks for your opinion.

yeah this summer probably.

i'm not sure what i'd do with it.

i'd probably be tempted to thrash it.

but then again if i could get it driveable....maybe i'd make it an offroader over the summer and/or sell it for more with a better interior?

i could get an interior from a junkyard...right? i dunno. i wont get ahead of myself. i'll just wait for more opinions.

yeah well i was...kinda...kidding. i have no idea what that stands for. lol.

well they emailed me back.

CLEAR TITLE!!! it was never reported as a flood car...the registration expired though and it runs rich so it cant drive anywhere without a tune....

i'll wait for more replies.

ANY help with questions to ask or personal experiance would be awesome. i think 100 is a smashing deal for a jeep without any mechanical problems....but maybe there's a common problem that could have been eaisly overlooked that could pose a huge problem later on.

i have not asked the extent of the flood damage yet.

but yeah...more opinions! lol :) thanks guys! i was thinking it'd have a horrible title and registration issues but if the engine runs good and the exaust is functioning right i could register and smog it and take it home without too much hassle. the only problem is tuning it. not sure why it runs rich yet...

Your original post says it needs to be towed away meaning to me, it does not run.

Then you said they could get it to run, but not well. I figure IF IT RUNS, then its worth 100 bucks. If it wont run, it may not even be worth 100 bucks and will surely be some work.

Make sense?

yeah sorry i thought about that...then was like...meh. lol. but yeah i see your point.

they said it must be towed because of that and the fact its not registered. if i didnt already say that. i forget. lol.

but yeah, thanks. i'm asking more about it. maybe i'll go look at it and give it a sniff to see if i can tolerate what its like inside.

i must be able to enjoy it...and i cant enjoy a stinky car. but maybe with a new interior or a washed one, it will be good again.

well i cant get something that might explode or inevitably turn into a heap of metal that cant be sold later...

i dont know anything about what water can do to a car...i assume water could make its way into the engine, drivetrain, and electronics.... i dunno. 100 bux is a hell of a deal and i'm really close to seeing if i can get it but i cant get a jeep that will not run and end up sitting in my yard going to rust- my dad HATES that kinda thing and wouldnt want a car just sitting there.

but maybe i could put in some work fixing the interior and sell it for 1k or so.

i guess i should research how to fix that carb. and check it out...

i'm still not sure though...lol

I would stay away from it...And how are you going to "tune" it? Does that thing have a standalone ECU or something? :biglaugh: That car sounds like a POS.

LOL...get an old Mercedes turbo diesel...it has to be like one of the top 10 most reliable cars on the road.
