Got my first car at 18 about a year ago. Paid 850 for it, don't curse me just yet the worst is yet to come. It's a black '87 Turbo targa with a manual tranny. It didnt run, the guy i bought it from said it spun a main bearing and said he fixed it and if i put it all back together again humpty dumpty would be fine. I didnt really trust him and tore it all down and took the block and crank to a local machine shop. Turns out they had to do some grinding on the crank and had to recon one of the rods and i had them hone the cylinders just to be safe, that cost just under 500 bucks. When my cousin and i went to look at it (he being a turbo car owner) thought to check the turbo for shaft play and of course it was shot. Picked one up on ebay for around 100 bucks in pretty good shape with minimal shaft play and went on. Discovered that the cps was broke and replaced it. Bought some ARP head bolts, full gasket kit, rings, main bearings, and timing belt. While reassembling the motor we forgot to put on the bottom front timing cover while torqueing the head down and ruined the head gasket, good thing too because i was leary of the ebay head gasket. Picked up a felpro head gasket at the local advance auto. And after all this the heart of the car still sits in a friends barn waiting to be finished and put back in the car nearly a year after this all started. I havent finished it because the friend has too many projects and not enough engine stands or room for me to work on mine. He's a DSM guy and so is my cousin so what can i say. :nono: I have plans to get the motor and all my parts back and reassemble them and hopefully have the car running in the next few months if all goes well. Wish me luck guys and keep your fingers crossed.

Since I have two CT26s now I've been considering heavily sending one off to driftmotion and have it upgraded to the 57 trim, with some 550 injectors, and a lexus AFM. I'll have to do some more reading before doing that though to make sure the engine can handle all that first. I'm not looking for anything too extreme I figure I'll be happy sitting somewhere in the mid 300's. Then again theres a 3000GT VR-4 sitting down the road under a cover that hasn't been moved or touched for a good while :evil2:. I guess we'll see when I get the supra running and see how I like it.

I wouldn't trust that Felpro gasket. If you have the chance I'd put in a MHG. I don't trust non-metal head gaskets, especially with a 7M. As for your cousin, give up on him bro, he's holding you up and preventing your Supra from getting back on the road. Maybe a good suspension set is in order so as to take you off the 4X4 status. :D Not bad Supra though.

Yeah I'll probably take the head and block back to the machine shop and have it decked and get a MHG to be 100% safe. What MHG would you recommend? I've read the HKS Stopper is pretty good.
