First BHG ?

OK I don't know if I have BHG or not, so here is my best description. My Supra loses coolant, although I dont know where from, can't see any visible leakage. When I add coolant back to the radiator, and then start the car, it smokes really bad..white in color. As the coolant gets low, the temp gauge will creep up to about 3/4 of the way up on the gauge, and the smoke gets less and less. There are no puddles of coolant under the car to speak of, so I wonder if the cooling leak is passing into the exhaust and blowing out ?.. PLZ help, 7mgte noob here, lol.

Sorry to all the people that are sick of BHG threads, but if possible I would like some info relevent to my situation.

Yea there is a bit of residue there, light-brown in color.

Milkshake plus lots of white smoke plus loss of coolant plus overheating = BHG

Do a compression to be postitive, but i'd bet it is a BHG.

BTW is it possible to pull the head without removing the engine ? I have tools but not a engine hoist/puller.

Lol i take it you had a shop install all your mods?

Yes it is possible to remove your head without the block being pulled....

But since you got a BHG im hoping your gonna go with a MHG,
in that case your gonna be pulling the motor anyways so why not wait
to remove the head while its out of the car? Easier IMO.

really? I have about the same temperatures as you and never got this, running german castrol.

What type of oil do you run? Do you know why this happens?

Yes it is possible to remove your head without the block being pulled....

But since you got a BHG im hoping your gonna go with a MHG,
in that case your gonna be pulling the motor anyways so why not wait
to remove the head while its out of the car? Easier IMO.

That Is what I meant, and yes, the car had a lot of the stuff already installed in it when I bought it.. so what.

Do you have any basis for saying this or are you just throwing it out there based on your opinion alone? At the very least this would be a fair amount of condensation in the crankcase, at the very least probably a clogged PCV system.

Sorry but these two statements do not belong in the same sentence. IF you go MHG you gotta take the block out and have it resurfaced, otherwise your just wasting your time because the MHG is not likely to seal. Why is pulling the motor not an option? Pulling the motor and trans together is very easy, check articles for a easy 49 step process for removing it. Should be able to do it in a day. Sounds like you may have gotten coolant in your oil which will contaminate the bearings. My advice, Stip it down, have the head hardness tested, get all the machine work done and a valve job, replace the rings and bearings, put it back together, break it in properly. Do it once, do it right, take care of it and never worry about it again. No my headgasket didnt seal or fuck now i got rod knock threads neccesary. If you cant find a good machinist, you could send it to a number of people here such as Rich Shubert (sipracingmailorder.com).

Pulling motor is not a option mainly because I don't have a engine hoist, or another set of hands to help me. 2nd, I'm not familiar enough with the 7mgte to feel confident about doing the job, and I don't wanna screw anything else up. I do have Rich Schubert's business card, (recently ordered exhaust manifold and turbo discharge gasket from him)... and was considering sending the head to him.

I know exactly how you feel, I felt the same way before I pulled my first engine. It was a honda accord, and I blew the engine. I couldnt afford to pay to have it done, but need it to drive. I did it completely blind with nothing more than a haynes repair manual (useless). I wasted time doing stupid things I didnt need to do like remove the manifolds and unplug and label the entire harness, when I could just unplug it from the body and leave it on the engine. But all was not lost because I learned where every sensor was and learned what most of them do. The 7M is easy to pull, you take the engine and trans out together. The 49 step guide makes it even easier. Take your time and you will learn as you go. If you run into a problem you can search here, start a new thread, or even PM me if you have a question. You will never learn if you dont try. I got my hoist at Pep boys for a mere $120. It has sat outside for 5 years and it still works. You can probably find them even cheaper on craigslist used. Spend 40 bucks on an engine leveler and you can do it yourself. Or just have a friend offer hands, they dont need to know what they are doing. Trust me pull it now and do it right, or you will be pulling it later and spending more money. You can do it, we can help. I'm feeling nice so I will even find the link to the removal guide. Read it and you will feel alot better about doing it.

That statement is self-defeating. If it were a 2JZ, it wouldnt have a blown head gasket; therefore, you wouldnt be pulling the engine and learning

Hey lewis, about the light brown residue on the oil cap statement. I know here in florida during spring I get the residue, do to the insane humidity thats created during the day. So the brownish residue under the cap is possible to get without a BHG. But in this situation, and hearing the other symptoms Im going with bhg as well.

I have used the EBAY gasket sets for several builds and they work pretty good man. You cant beat the $50 dollar price tag on them. Have the shop shave the head to a low RA (around $50). Have them install the VIton valve stems provided in the Ebay kit(around $30 to replace em ). The MHG and ARPS should run you about $320. So at this point you are looking at about $500 dollars in parts/machine work for just the head. This is were the thoughts come in "Should i do a FULL rebuild?". Yea if it were 2jz, I would'nt be in this mess lol. It is humid here in Louisiana, but I have the other symptons that suggest the BHG, so I'm pretty much screwed. I just might do a full build and turbo, or at least a upgraded CT to maybe a 57 trim, depends on the money thing. I'll know more later and if I do decide to build it, maybe it'll be forum worthy LOL.

One of the purposes of the PCV system is to expel the moisture in the crankcase as it is evaporated during a heat cycle. If you run your car daily you really shouldn't get milky buildup.
