SM is my freakin homepage so I was reminded every time I went online.
Yeah, me too !

Yellow 13 was permabanned? That's too bad, he's a nice guy in real life, but got out of hand on the forums. I never had any issues with Ideal either. I even bought stuff from him with no problems in the past. Oh well, life goes on. They will probably be back under different pseudonyms anyway.

I'm glad to be back as well. I missed postwhoring with you guys. I've been over to the other place a few times looking for info on my 1jz, and I've found a few helpful people over there as well. Their are some pricks over there, but you can't discriminate over religion, political views, or prickness. That's just the way it is. You're going to have them on every forum and every street corner.

What's this talk about getting rid of OneJoeZeeless? You can just forget about that. I will personally ban everyone that brings this outrageousness up again.....................:biglaugh:

I'm pretty sure permaban is IP based, so unless they want to go down to their library or hack a neighbor's wireless, they're gone.
But yeah, I always enjoyed most of Y13's posts (except for when he'd pointlessly whore the Gen/Tech sections), but damn those sigs got annoying. :biglaugh:

It doesn't take too much intrawebzzz savvy to reset your IP address; or spoof your mac address onto your router/switch so that your router is assigned a different IP from your internet service provider.

I can reset my IP at will; but i'm also cisco certified!

^ True, I'm sure it can be done. I know w/ Earthlink DSL (I HATE w/ A PASSION!) we're assigned an IP, stays same thru modem resets, etc, not effected by router. I'm sure there is a way, but I only know what I've taught myself and picked up a few tidbits from others.

I'm practically computer illiterate....And can switch my IP on any computer on my network in practically 5 seconds. It's not hard at all...IP bans really are pointless

Heh, yea, on your network. Not on the Bell Canada DSL network, which is the only IP that matters in this case.

Starting at 10:45 PM Eastern time, I'm going to block you at the servers hardware firewall.

Get a post up within the next hour, from where you are, and I'll be impressed.

I'll bet you don't though. Can an IP ban be worked around? Yes, definately.

Can I make it a real pain the the ass for you to post, definately.

It's a matter of how much bullshit you are willing to go through to get here, and how much effort and how much collateral damage I'm willing to suffer to keep you out.

I could go as far as banning every Canadian based IP, that would piss a lot of people off...

The reality is, we almost never use an IP ban, because they are a royal pain in the ass.

That would be on your own intranet. Those addy's are only to ID your computer on your own network, if you're using the basic 192.168...protocol that most home routers use, thousands of computers use that across America.
But, all of those computers on your network get routed through your router and to the gateway (your modem), which is where your IP is assigned with your ISP. All computers at your house have that same IP addy. I'm not literate enough to know how to switch that myself, although obviously it can be done (apparently Disced can) I would imagine its not particularly simple, at least not w/ Earthlink. At least thats how I understand it.

I hated having this site down. All I had left to post on were a couple of Honda forums I post on, and that Godforsaken site Tunerfriends... It's nice to be able to come back....
