Well recently i have been doing alot of work on the supra, replaced the manifold gasket, coolant lines, and other random things,, finaly got the car running only to walk out to it one day to find oil EVERYWHERE around the car. so i got the car home, jacked it up, looked around, couldnt find oil leaking from anywhere. had the car running while jacked up a few drips of oil here and there falling off random parts that wouldnt have oil in them. spent several hours under the car and what not trying to find this leak, all while it was snowing/sleeting, wet and nasty out side. never found the leak, so i finaly got fed up with it and decided to take it to a shop to have them find the leak/ fix it while they had it because its my DD and i need it running.
So theres really only 2 shops in my town that i would go to, Maidas, or Toyota dealership... well Maidas has screwed me over ever single time i go there. they once charged me $65 for an oil change,, and i even had a free oil change ticket. that and they have stripped out 2 oil drain plugs causing oil leaks both times... So Maidas out of the question. that and they hate working on modded cars, mainly cause they dont understand what there looking at..
So i drive it over to the Toyota dealership, i'v delt with them in the past and their actualy really good so far from my experience. so i drop it off there, i told them its leaking oil some where and i just cant find where its coming from. they said they'd look at it and call back when they find it.. well they called back later that day. HERES THE BEST PART....the guy that was working on my car called and said, hey we've found your oil leak.. its 2 things. one is the oil dip stick tube wasnt seated into the hole properly and he simply put it back in for me, and 2 theres a oil tube/line running from the oil pan like under the support bar thats leaking oil and just needs replaced,, he said i'v noticed all the work you've done on that car, it looks great, and you'v done good work, then he said..
i know if you would have found the leak you would have fixed it, so just between you and me i dont want you to have to pay a couple hundred for us to fix these silly things for you, so when you come in i'll show you the leaky line and i'll just let you fix it on your own it'll only cost you about $10 and 10 mins of your time to do.... now how many mechanics out there do you know especialy from large dealerships that would do this for you and not just fix everything and charge you a ton of money? i was honestly very shocked at the fact that this mechanic was simply wanting to help me out.
