I found 2 places here in houston that sell 7ms (ge and gte)

One place has COMPLETE 7MGE engine for $650 before tax(Includes 90 day warrenty), the other has it for $500.

I called the first place (engineworldUSA) and the guy told me hes family owned and been in houston for 3 months (owned this place elsewhere before here) and said hes sold over 150+ motors so far and not ONE has come back. He then asked me why all of us guys keep restoring a 20 year old supra... I said hey man its an addiction, once you drive one you cant stop... better that than drugs right?

My plan is to go get one of these engines, take off some parts and put mine on from my GE cuz I know they work. After that Im going to rebuild my GE over the next year, maybe make it a GE-T, or just build my GTE that I have... who knows.

I COULD get the GTE block for $700 from the second place, so prolly $800 from the first one. I dont wanna mess with all the ECU crap and stuff anyways.

I had a few questions though, if I buy one of these engines, if its 86.5 - 88 I can use my ECU right? (its 86.5)

Also, what should I replace while this "new" engine is out before it goes in. Im sure it has some usage on it... also, they are all JDM. Oh and Im doing this so the supra comes back faster, and this engine is temporary for about a year or so. I dont want to rebuild the entire thing yet, thats why Im pullin one of these, so I just mean like what, main seals, MAYBE the oil pump? They work so no BHG, but if that happens I already know, MHG and ARP studs.

Thanks guys, you always help out

Just be aware the second you open the motor for any reason you no longer have a warranty not to mention being a performance turbo motor there are like 5000 easy outs so they will never have to warranty it if something does go wrong!

Take someone with you that knows motors and have them do a comp test on your new motor BEFORE you hand over $$$ also do all of the obvious checks such as look for corrosion/fluid leaks externally and any sign of water in the oil.

Oh yeah, all those check on the end of course. How do you do a comp test on an engine thats out of the car?

I will be checking the oil for sure, last thing I want is another rod knock, I think I wont kill anyone if I get a BHG, I can repair that, Im proving it with how my car is right now, I could put it back together with a HG and ARP studs and will run, cept the damn rod knock sucks HAHA.

Thanks IJ, you always rock.

You just hook a battery to the starter open the TB and proceed as normal with the test!

Most of these places have a stand to test run the motors as well.

Awesome, never though of that, dur... haha, IJ get your ass over here to Houston and come buy my motor with me.. or just bring me one of yours haha..

Oh and Im getting the GE engine, Ill rebuild my GTE over next year.

Is your car turbo or N/A? If turbo, you will need an ECU for the N/A.

As long as it is a 7M, year won't matter much (86-92). You may have different connectors on your harness for a couple parts. Just swap those parts over from your other motor, and connectors will work. I don't think there are any more than 2-3 parts that don't match.

If you're putting an N/A in a turbo car, you probably will need to swap the harness too.

no N/A to N/A, really all years just slight differenace huh, not bad.

Don't do anything without checking with me first. There is a boneyard by me that has a couple of good 7m motors. The boneyard is in MI. and believe me when I say this is a DOMESTIC CAR ONLY TOWN so I'm pretty sure u can get a motor (good one) shipped for less than 6 hondo. Holla back or PM me and let me know what u want to do. BTW is that Corsica running?

Anyways ,Im convincing my mom to cosign a $1500 loan THIS weekend hopefully, going to get everything I need. I found a place in town that has em for $500. Get that, a hoist and stand, few other parts. Good to go.
