So what does everyone think about the lighter flywheel??? Anyone running it and also what do they think of it. A mod I'm going to do soon unless its not worth the $$$, Also traction control bars from SupraSport??? Also what else should I do to the drivetrain/tranny/undercarriage of my car since that is where I am right now??? All ears, I already bought NEW, tranny mount, rear main seal, clutch, steel braided lines(clutch, brakes) All ears Thanks Tejon

i love mine, and would never, ever go back to stock. it revs super fast, and makes downshifting even MORE enjoyable, if that's even possible! (i'm talking about the fidanza)

i bought mine, i have not put it on because they sent me the right flywheel but the bolts did not line up right, so iam waiting for the new one. i weighted it and it is 11 pounds exactly, compared to the stock one which is about 20-21 it is a big difference. i will let you know when i have my car on the road.

Fidanza / clutch masters (same FW) are the biggest POS flywheel ever made. I went through 5 of them before I gave up and got an Unorthodox one.

Why 5? THEY DON'T FIT. Most of them aren't machined right.

I bought a fidanza... works excelent for me! The revs just fly up when you rev it. Also like its stated they do fall much faster so its something to get used to on slow shifts.

It was snug on the crank for sure. but I just set it and used the bolts to kind of push it down onto it, tightening in a slow star pattern. Have not have a problem with my Spec (ellegedly the same as fidanza) FW or clutch combo over 1500 miles so far...

mine sounds identical to the stock one (read: i cant hear it...)

mkIIIman089, i did the exact same thing. it was very snug, but i just tightened the bolts like you'd tighten lugnuts on a rim, but slowly, and carefully, and it went on no problem.

The Fidanza/SPEC flywheels purchased within the last year should not have the fitment issues of the ones purchased more than a year ago. They should now fit over the crankshaft with little wiggling...

The Unorthodox flywheels are nicer as a whole, but a recent batch has been sitting awfully close to the oilpan requiring some minor bending of the oil pan lip.

The RPS flywheels are segmented which should help prevent warping under high heat/abuse conditions. However they do not have a large relief area for the sprung clutch packs so they will not fit many sprung clutch discs, including the Toyota and TRD discs. The HPF feramic and bronze sprung do fit, as do every unsprung clutch I've tried. I haven't been able to verify that they fit a SPEC clutch yet

Yep, mine makes no noise at all either.

Shaeff - good to hear someone else had the same thing work for them as well :)

I helped a friend do a AUTO-to-5 Spd swap a few months back & his Fidanza FW did not fit on the crank snout. Period. My buddy [Mike B, aka CygnusX1] spent almost an hour hand sanding the FW hole to get it to fit. At least the bolt holes lined up- I've heard plenty of stories regarding bolt holes not lining up. YMMV.

Quality on the RPS flywheel is excellent. The Toyota and TRD clutch will not fit -- period. If you want to use a Toyota clutch, use one designed for a MR2. Sprung clutches dampen the engagement of the clutch and are better on the drivetrain and easier around town. Unsprung clutches are lighter and have more positive shifting (but are harder on the drivetrain)

JUN flywheels are hard to get (60-90 days) but are very well made. Being chromoly, they hold up to heat better than aluminum ones and would be the choice for those doing serious drag racing

hmmm its interesting to hear a couple of you say you have no chatter from the LW Flywheel..... i personally dont have any experience with them...however ive heard a couple on a few mk4s and they chatter like crazy....

ive been contemplating just getting the stocker cut down.... psifactor had her 1jz flywheel cut down and it only weighed 11lbs when she put it back in.... and she has no chatter aside from reverse which we all get with upgraded clutches anyways....

any thoughts on cutting the stocker to make it LW?
